Sony belts out SingStar ballads

Latest release for the karaoke-style SingStar franchise, Rock Ballads, includes Duran Duran, Harry Nilsson, Heart, and Starship.

SingStar 90s is due out tomorrow, but the SingStar franchise is still full speed ahead, with a new selection of "Rock Ballad"-themed songs due out in late September for the PlayStation 2.

The latest iteration of the popular party game will include crooning classics such as Air Supply's "All Out of Love," Alannah Myles' "Black Velvet," Boston's "More Than A Feeling," and Toto's "Africa."

SingStar Rock Ballads will come in two editions, one with microphones for £39.99, and one without (for those who have already picked up a pair from one of the previous games) for £19.99.

The first SingStar game was released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2, and since then there have been seven follow-ups, including SingStar Legends, SingStar Anthems, and SingStar 80s. SingStar 90s is due for UK release on August 3.

The Xbox 360 needs a singing game like this. Honestly all these songs suck, and most songs in every singstar have sucked ...... but they are all guilty pleasure songs. Songs that everyone knows and can sing along too. MICROSFT, get me a freaking singing game.

This is presumably so the Chavs can practice their pitiful attempts at Karoake at home before they inflict their hideous warblings on the drunks at the local pub.

Wow. That's not such a good playlist. WTF is up with incluidng two songs by Roxette? Just swung on by the Singstar Amped playlist. That is MILES better than anything on that disc. Shame it's only a NA release...

Some good ones, but the vast majority aren't that great. Upset over how this franchise is being whored out.
