Despite a lack of visual refinement, NASCAR 2001 is definitely a game that's worth owning.

EA's NASCAR series is back with more than 30 drivers and cars, 19 official tracks, and a revamped game engine that is said to offer improved graphics, physics, and AI.
The development team at Electronic Arts that is currently putting together NASCAR 2001 for the PS2 took some time out to give us a look at the game in its current state and to tell us what they're planning for the world's first next-generation NASCAR title.
The first PS2 NASCAR game has come a surprisingly long way from it's appearance at E3.
