Shippin' Out 3/13-3/17: Outfit, Parallel Lines, MGS3: Subsistence

This week sees the release of the latest Xbox 360 offering, the return of Solid Snake, a quintet of PSP games, and CSI in 3D on PC.

The ides of March may not have been kind to Julius Caesar back in 44 BC, but it will provide some nice offerings for gamers in 2006 AD. This week sees a variety of releases for every major platform, with genres ranging from World War II shooters to TV and movie tie-ins. If you're of legal age, chances are you'll be toasting any purchase you make with the frosty beverage of your choice on Friday, St. Patrick's Day.

By quantity, the most titles shipping this week are for Sony's two platforms, the PlayStation Portable and the PlayStation 2. After a long drought of releases last year, the controversial handheld is seeing its library expand at a rapid rate. Daxter, Mega Man Powered Up, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Untold Legends: The Warrior's Code, and Neopets Petpet Adventure: The Wand of Wishing will all arrive on the portable this week.

Meanwhile, the week sees two new versions of popular PS2 games go on sale: Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix (also available for Xbox) and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. Rockstar Games has added an entire new city--Tokyo--to its street racer, while the revamped version of Konami's bestseller will add an entire online play feature. To learn more about the latter, watch GameSpot's very own Greg Kasavin in a live review of Subsistence today at 4 p.m. PST.

Xbox 360 owners will also see their platform's catalog increase by one this week, with the release of The Outfit. While there was a lot of hype for THQ and Relic's hybrid of shooting action and squad strategy, Ryan Davis was less than impressed with the title, as he says in his full review.

I wonder why The Outfit got such a low score when almost everyone I've talked to seems to be loving the game.
