Midway confirms Aqua Teen golf game

Publisher officially announces Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am for PlayStation 2 this fall.

When Midway acquired the rights to make games based on the Adult Swim suite of programs, it was almost a given that it would tap one of the brand's most popular programs--Aqua Teen Hunger Force--for inspiration. Today, Midway finally confirmed those suspicions.

Possibly the finest box art the world has ever known.

First let out of the bag by ATHF creator Dave Willis, the game will feature the crime-fighting fast-food products playing "combat golf" and cart racing in the spectacularly titled Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am. Zombie Ninja Pro-Am will be released as a PlayStation 2 exclusive this fall.

The original storyline sees Frylock--a carton of French fries--admitted to a prestigious country club. Master Shake--a milkshake--then tries to impress the club members, which leads Meatwad--a ball of ground meat--to follow suit. Hilarity ensues.

Few details have been released on the actual gameplay, but Midway says it will combine "action-adventure combat golf" and cart racing, and that the trio will battle villains and other characters from the show.

In a statement, the twisted creators of the show, Willis and Matt Maiellaro, said, "This golden chalice represents a new age in gaming, the likes of which has never before been seen on this planet. The weak will tremble at the awareness of our full color, hand-made graphics!"

    If its released as budget game... i might consider it...well a preowned copy anyway, simply because aqua teen is so funny Probably will be a load of crud though

    Ok, Aqua Teens selling out? Seriously? It's gotten more weird every season. Family Guy is the super cultural reference obvious humor stuff... Aqua teens has always been off kilter and random and quirky and continues to be so. The movie I have doubts about because stretching an 11 minute show to 90 will be hard to sustain, but even if the game is the worst game on the planet and I'll still get it because it will be as random and entertaining and clever as ever. I find the phrase "selling out" interesting because it airs on TV, made by CN, a channel owned by Ted Turner. It's always been bought and paid for. MM and DW are doing their show their way... I know a lot of people fell for the Pearl Jam fighting against Ticketmaster and fighting against the man and being alternative... but that attitude is ridiculous. Time to turn in the flannel and get to reality. People who say they are rebels fighting the system are full of it and trying to sell to your demographic. Selling out is simply overused this day in age... especially when you are inputing your opinion (about a TV show which gets money from cable) on some device that someone made, to ride over some internet service provided by someone to be housed on a server owned and operated by Ziff Davis Media. If you would have said "overexposed" I might tend to agree, but selling out is very different and almost impossible for a TV show to do since all shows greenlighted by execs who see dollar potential in them; and ATHF Golf has a sell here.
