As any meteorologist would say, predicting the weather is hard. Konami can relate, announcing today as part of its pre-Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference that it has pushed Silent Hill: Downpour to this winter, having initially planned the game for release in the fall. The first new installment in the series since 2008's Homecoming, Downpour will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Downpour's delay was far from the only Silent Hill-related update Konami provided during its press conference. The publisher also confirmed that it is at work on Silent Hill: Book of Memories, a new installment in the series exclusively for Sony's upcoming NGP.

Konami did not provide much information on Book of Memories. However, according to Silent Hill producer Tom Hulett, when the game arrives "later on down the road," it will be "taking the franchise places it's never been before." Konami also cautioned that Book of Memories has yet to be concept-approved by Sony.

Lastly, Konami revealed the Silent Hill Collection. The package includes an HD touch-up for Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3, which were originally released in 2001 and 2003, respectively. Konami did not indicate when the Silent Hill Collection would arrive, nor did it say which platforms it was in development for.
