GameSpot: How did the collaboration between Sony and Tecmo come about for this?

Satoshi Kanematsu: We always want to offer surprise and entertainment for players. From that thought, this incredible collaboration with the apes popularly known to a broad range of PS2 users came true in Monster Rancher 4.

GS: How many apes are available?

SK: We can't tell you the exact number because we want users to experience the joy of discovery and surprise. What I can say is to just try every different Ape Escape title in the series.

How could you not love a face like that?

GS: What exactly will the apes be able to do?

SK: Since the apes have their unique characteristics, you will need to breed and have them battle differently from other monsters.

GS: Will both Ape Escape games unlock features in the game?

SK: We haven't decided yet.

GS: Can the apes be used in adventure mode as well?

SK: Of course they can be. They won't let you down.

GS: Can you give us a hint if there will be other special appearances?

SK: The number one feature of the Monster Rancher series is that you can unleash various monsters with different characteristics by using music CDs, movie DVDs, and game discs. Please allow me not to jeopardize players' surprise by giving a hint. Let me say, "Come on and try all the discs you've got and have fun!"

You'll be able to train your monkeys like the rest of your monsters.

GS: Would you like to share any thoughts on Monster Rancher 4?

SK: Monster Rancher fans will find tons of new surprising ideas of gameplay in Monster Rancher 4. I'm sure those who have never played Monster Rancher before will surely get addicted as well. There are more than 300 unique monsters waiting to appear with the discs you are going to use. Become the best breeder as you can be and breed monsters in your best way and enjoy the adventure together with your monsters!
