Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence gets Euro release date

Three-disc version of Solid Snake's most recent adventure set to make its European debut later this year.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence finally has an approximate release date in Europe. While the game originally launched in the US back in March, European gamers will have to wait until sometime in October to get their hands on it. Konami has announced that the game will be released in a three-disc format on the PlayStation 2, with an enhanced version of the original game, the new online multiplayer mode, and a full CGI Metal Gear Solid 3 movie.

The Subsistence edition of Metal Gear Solid 3 notably adds 3D camera control to the original game, while also letting players view individual cutscenes. The second disc will feature the same online mode as the US release, letting up to eight people compete online using the PlayStation 2 Network Adaptor. Players will also be able to tackle the boss fights separately or play through ports of the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 games from the MSX computer system.

The third disc tells the story of Metal Gear Solid 3 via the game's cutscenes, radio dialogue, and gameplay footage. It will also include the full trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's full review.

    We have had to wait a long freaking time. I got online just for this game several months ago, then it got delayed.

    This is most brilliant! Delayed, but completely worth it I'm sure. I've been playing MGS3 to death, but want to see these new changes and watch it as a movie and play what came before it all! Yehaa!

    About freking time. I live in New Zealand and I've been asking at my EBgames for ages when will MGS3S come out. Now I finally get a release date. Woot Woot! Bring it on I say.

    Finally. It's about damn time we got a release date. Thank god that we'll be able to just import the US version of MGS4 when that comes out thanks to no region restrictions on the PS3.

    rynmls: wooo why does europe got all the right guds and stuffs...

    Normally japan and american gamers get´s something that europeans won´t get. Beside that, when games are converted to PAL (the system europe is using) they sometimes lose some of the features that was found in the other versions (like Capcom did with Resident Evil 2) It´s nice to see that Hideo Kojima rewards the europeans for waiting longer than japan and america.

    I must say MGS is awesome. Some day I'll buy a PS-2 just for MGS series

    Why so much wait for the Europeans! My 3rd world country Bangladesh got this game months ago!
