Take-Two registers more Grand Theft Autos

GTA: Bogota, GTA: Tokyo, and GTA: Sin City are now owned by the publisher.

Just when it seemed that it was a safe bet the next Grand Theft Auto game was going to be called GTA: San Andreas, three more official Grand Theft Auto titles have surfaced.

On December 21, 2003, one week after it registered GTA: San Andreas, Rockstar parent Take-Two Interactive registered Grand Theft Auto: Bogota, Grand Theft Auto: Tokyo, and Grand Theft Auto: Sin City with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Since neither Take-Two nor Rockstar are officially commenting, it's anybody's guess whether the three GTA titles are potential monikers for the fifth official Grand Theft Auto game, future installments in the crime adventure franchise, or merely decoys.

Take-Two also registered acronym variants of the titles (GTA: Bogota, GTA: Tokyo, and GTA: Sin City), meaning it still may adopt a shortened, less felonious naming scheme. However, since the company also now registered the full Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas title (previously, only GTA: San Andreas was announced), that could also not be the case.
