The Force Unleashed on 5.7 million

LucasArts' latest action adventure the "fastest-selling Star Wars video game in history" after multiplatinum milestone.

LucasArts' Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was regarded as a solid installment in George Lucas' space-opera saga upon its launch in September, recording a decidedly decent critical reception on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PSP. And with award season in full swing, the action adventure has already picked up at least one noteworthy accolade, taking home the Writers Guild of America's award for game writing earlier this week.

To complement the game's qualitative success, LucasArts can now trumpet The Force Unleashed's quantitative performance as well. This week, the publisher's parent company Lucasfilm announced that the game has attained global sales of 5.7 million units across its myriad platforms, which include the Xbox 360, PS3, PlayStation 2, PSP, Wii, DS, and mobile devices.

Of that tally, 1.5 million units of The Force Unleashed were sold during the game's opening week, after the publisher said that it had shipped out 4.3 million copies to global retailers. Lucasfilm notes that The Force Unleashed's performances have secured it the standing of "fastest-selling Star Wars video game in history."

Set between the ending of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and the beginning of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, The Force Unleashed chronicles the travails of Darth Vader's secret apprentice. As the acolyte, players are tasked with hunting down the Jedi remnant across the galaxy, wreaking as much Force-powered destruction as possible in the process.

every single person who has ever downloaded or used an illigal copy of a game is to blame for the gross neglect of PC versions of games. when I found out that force unleashed was coming out on pretty much every single gaming platform out there exept for PC that was a great blow to me, what looked like the first of a new generation of the JEDI KNIGHT series not even being released on my preferred(my only) platform. if anyone reads this and feels as i do please go to : http://www.petitiononline.com/g5d4iu5f/petition.html and sign this petition. as for people who use illigal software remember if enough people stop buying a product than they will not make it anymore

This game was not well received by critics which fuss about control and blah blah blah...all games have problems and even if this game was frustrating at times, it was fun as hell the rest of the time spent playing it...instead of finding negatives, which people like to do, enjoy the positive and don't dwell on the negative because if this game has flaws, what about Fallout 3. This game has a lot flaws, especially its aiming/shooting system. Gun power is inaccurate and takes forever to kill someone.

    @LoseSoul1974
You are getting KOTOR III. It's a PC-exclusive MMO.

Yeah, the game had its quirks, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Now, if we could only get KOTOR III........

would of been a better game if the controls especially the targeting had been fixed. Fun game but truely could of been spectacular, instead of frustrating!

I had fun with the game, but soooo many problems could've been solved with the game if the devs had just thought to make the targeting camera-based instead of where your character was facing...

see it pays to make your games multiplatform! If this were an exclusive, it wouldn't sell this well! hmm how do they make sequels to this? the secret apprentice is dead (the rule of star wars game is always make sequel from the "light side" ending), though i wouldn't mind if they break their rule this one time!

dag-dabreemie - Yeah, DELETED scenes. As in it doesn't happen. George Lucas allowed everything that happend in TFU to happen. So Shaak Ti being in this is fine.

i would love a Darth Bane game! The 2 books on Bane are pretty awesome and could be used as a platform for a pretty wicked game!!
SWTFU was a unreal game for me, ppl nitpicked the controls, sure took a lil getting used to, but once i had 2 fingers on each of the shoulder buttons (i usually only have one on each) it became 2nd nature!! great game and i want more! of the same but use earlier EU!

You know what we need? a Darth Maul game, Lucasarts was going to make a Darth Maul game before the Force Unleashed, but they didn't because people already knew how Maul died......

Lucasarts, didn't you make a Star Wars:Bounty Hunter? with the main character as Jango Fett, who we all know that died in EPisode II? how is that any different than Darth Maul?

The very reason for owning all systems(If you can), when console exclusives hit it doesn't matter. (Sorry PC lovers).

"Being able to play any game that comes out regardless of platform, PRICELESS
