Brash aping Space Chimps

Silver-screen-oriented publisher to bring 360, PS2, Wii, DS tie-in to Vanguard Animation's cartoon comedy on July 18.

Yesterday, Hollywood-focused publisher Brash Entertainment gave horror fans a glimpse into the future with word that a game based on the next installment in Lionsgate's Saw film franchise would spook store shelves in October 2009. On the heels of that announcement, Brash is tossing one out for the kids with the news today that a game tie-in to Vanguard Animation's Space Chimps will arrive alongside its theatrical debut on July 18.

Details on the game are still swinging through the trees, but Brash says it will feature a storyline independent of the film. In the game, primary primate Ham, along with cohort chimp Luna, will scavenge for Earth's Infinity Space Probe, which has been lost on an alien planet.

Distributed by 20th Century Fox, Space Chimps the film will feature the voice work of Andy Samberg, Cheryl Hines, Patrick Warburton, Kristin Chenoweth, and Stanley Tucci. Signed on to produce the film are John H. Williams (Shrek, Shrek 2) and Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, The Addams Family).

Space Chimps is currently slated to work its monkey mojo on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Wii, and Nintendo DS.

    Horrible... The 'dark side' of the gaming industry's main-stream commercialism... But developers have to pay the bills. lol.

    Why do they make these games? There's so many failing games like this it's not even funny.

    Yay, another movie tie-in destined for failure. The developers just don't seem to get it do they?

    Another pale movie tie in platformer aimed at kids who would rather play Mario. Seriously gamespot whats the point in advertising news like this when the outcome is so predictable its unbelievable.

    @Gameboy2k

    hey man, dont say that out loud, If they managed to allow us to make our own devices would be indeed a good addition, but you know...the game is already probably on its way to censorship, banning, lawsuits and the likes. I somehow can sense that coming...=S those damn persecutors are damning the videogames, no wonder all fps' and 3rd person action games are all the same, they aren't allowed to innovate

    Never mind that, any ape-based game is always going to pale in comparison to the Ape Escape series. Can we have a sequel please?

    First of all, does Saw really need a video game? Monkeys and platformers go together like peanut butter and jelly. Too bad it's based on a movie, that's one strike against it.

    Yeah! The same publisher who'll bring us the Saw videogame will also bring us monkeys in space suits, another below average multiplataform platform game... just a few hours I was reading the Saw fans in hope for their game...this should fit as an answer
