I only played the third in the series, so to me the game`s pretty good.

I'm getting SC3. I've liked the series since Soul Blade (PS1). I still feel that the Sega Dreamcast version was the best, though.

It's so weird how pretty much the whole review that he was talking about the 'staleness' of SC.
I mean really, when reviewing a game, yes you compare it to the prior installments, but focusing to heavily on what something COULD have been, and what's actually there right in front of you, can result in an unjust review.

Greg was too harsh on this review, this game is awesome no matter how you look at it.

I liked it more than SC2. The AI is a lot, lot better. Plus, it's more skill intensive, and the fights are more satisfying. SC2 fights were a tad boring.

Truth is, I don't expect anything new or innovative. The new modes are a nice addition, certainly unexpected. But with the slightly improved graphics, the new custom player creator (no matter how basic it is), just the idea of more Soul Calibur â€" plain and simple â€" is enough to put this game on my list.

I've been a fan since the first time I played SC1 in the arcade, and I see no signs of letting up on my "fandom" of this awesome series!
