SOCOM II breaks records online

SCEA reveals that only two days after its release SOCOM II: Navy SEALs is already breaking records online.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has today revealed that SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs, which was released on November 4, is already breaking records online. SOCOM II has rapidly replaced its predecessor as the number one online PS2 game in terms of simultaneous players, with a figure of over 22,000 already recorded. The original SOCOM typically supports up to 14,500 simultaneous players during peak times.

"With SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs, we have created one of the most intense and complete online experiences available on any console or personal computer," said Seth Luisi, senior producer at Sony Computer Entertainment America. "SOCOM II raises the bar for online gaming, and we are thrilled about the amazing consumer adoption in the first two days."

Developed by Zipper Interactive, SOCOM II is a team-based tactical action game in which up to 16 players can do battle in online missions set in locations all over the world. For more information on SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs, check out our full review of the game.

what's so sad about knowing that one of the best online shooters of all time had broken records many years ago? Socom literally started 3rd person shooters, that's the way I see it. It is literally the father of every other 3rd person shooting game that will ever exist after it.
