Hunter: The Reckoning Wayward Impressions
We take an updated look at the revised version of Hunter: The Reckoning for the PS2 at Gen Con Indy 2003.
We visited Vivendi Universal's kiosks at the White Wolf booth at Gen Con Indy to see Hunter: The Reckoning Wayward for the PS2. The game will be an enhanced version of Hunter: The Reckoning that will feature the four playable characters from the original game, as well as three unlockable characters, one of whom will be completely new. The PS2 version of the game will also let you press and hold the attack button to auto-fire a ranged weapon, but you'll have to use this option carefully, since the game's ranged weapons will all have limited ammo.
Wayward's most prominent new feature is its new hub system, which you can return to after completing any mission. The hub lets you jump to any available mission accessible via the map, and it also lets you play through any missions you may have previously completed if you missed some of the game's many hidden secrets and Easter eggs. The hub will also have numerous other miscellaneous features, such as "Hunter.net," a computer system that offers clues on how to defeat certain monsters and hints that advance the game's story. The hub will also feature a trophy room that will fill up with trophies over the course of the game, and each trophy will unlock a new cheat code. The hub will even have a 3D model viewer and a music player that will let you listen to any music track you've unlocked. Hunter: The Reckoning Wayward is scheduled for release later this year.
