The PlayStation 2 doesn't have a lot of good 2D fighting games available for it yet, so Capcom vs. SNK 2 can be easily recommended by default.

Many 2D fighting fans were surprised when Capcom and SNK teamed up to release the first Capcom vs. SNK game. The second game has a bittersweet feel to it, due to SNK closing it's doors after many years of creating great games. It's uncertain if the SNK licenses will continue to fight on, but fans can take heart in one top notch game for their PS2 in Capcom vs. SNK 2. Makoto Takedown
Chun-Li's my fav an' one of the most formidable fighters, but I doubt every fight goes flawlessly. Makoto's a strong competitor, an' has one of the coolest throw/takedowns in the game.
