AU Shippin' Out October 27-31: Fallout 3

Despite being temporarily banned, Fallout 3 makes it onto our soil at the same time as the rest of the world.

Fallout 3's journey into the Australian game market hasn't been without controversy, but after a rocky ride, we're on the eve of its release. Playing in the year 2277, you're a survivor of a nuclear apocalypse and have spent all your life living inside a Vault 101, a fallout shelter in Washington, DC. When your father leaves the safety of the vault to venture into the wasteland, you decide to go after him to find out why he left and, along the way, discover what life outside the vault is like. Like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3 can be played in both first and third person, and it features a combat system called Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System, not dissimilar to the combat mechanic found in Red Dead Revolver. Expect to see Fallout 3 in stores around Australia on Friday.

Almost a month after FIFA Soccer 09 came out, Konami is bringing their popular football game to the table with Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. Amongst the updated graphics and new animations, PES now includes licensed teams from the UEFA Champions League, as well as a new mode called Become a Legend, whereby you pick a player and stick with him for the entire season. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 comes out on the 30th.

I'm a bit confused that Fallout 3 is on the 31st. Bethesda keep harping on about it being released on the 30th, but every other site says the 31st. Guess we will just have to find out this week.

I think Fallout 3 is going to be great but I think Far cry 2 is going to get Game of the Year.

@ Nintendo Man, if you mean sales wise, you , may be right (maybe) but in terms of qualty of games, i really do think there are better games than that gimmick on that list....

you know, every time I've commented on this subject about how Australia's laws are just totally backward when it comes to rating games, I've been reported as an abuser. Well, i stand by what I've said, they are stupid, and i'm glad Aussie gamers can play in spite of the idiots, not because of them!

Well actually The Praetor, you could aim with ridiculous accuracy in fallout 1 and 2 - your accuracy was determined by your gun skills, the weapon you were using, and the spot you were aiming at...1 more day and we will see if 10 years were worth it (of course - wish it wasn't 10 years, but can't help that...) and the hype were accurate

    To PuhJesus:

Because you merely "aimed" in Fallout 1 and 2. You weren't assisted by a computer system. In Red Dead Revolver, you could aim with ridiculous accuracy, as it will be with Fallout 3.

Why did they cite the combat similar to Red Dead Revolver? Why not Fallout 1 or 2?

Fallout 3 didn't do anything to the game to get it released in AU. I guess they just caved and decided to sell it right?
