Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure Preview
Atlus is quickly gaining a reputation for bringing over unique products from Japan and localizing them for American audiences. Thousand Arms, Tail Concerto, Guilty Gear, Persona, Trap Gunner, Kartia, and others would never have seen the light of day in the US if it hadn't been for Atlus' American studios. Now the Irvine-based publisher is set to bring over its newest acquisition, Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, to the PlayStation in the spring of 2000. Known as the Puppet Princes in Japan, Rhapsody is a musical-RPG, which is exactly what it sounds like - a Disney film where they break into song at key moments. Except that it's not like Disney. Rhapsody follows the adventures of a young girl named Cornet who is looking for her one true love in the Kingdom of Marl. She has a magical horn with which she summons magical creatures to assist her in her travels. Hoping to ruin Cornet's day is her archenemy Marjorie.
Rhapsody features hand-drawn characters and backgrounds, more than 20 puppets and monsters to summon on your quest, musical cutscenes, wild magic-spells, and more than 20 hours of gameplay. The battle system is easily laid out for novices but is challenging enough for experienced gamers. Atlus will release Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure for the PlayStation sometime in March. Look for the full review coming soon, but in the meantime check out the screenshots of this unique game.
