Bigben Interactive has today announced that it will release Dance:UK for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 later this year. The Bemani-style dance mat game will, according to today's press release, boast a number of features over and above what current games in the genre have to offer, including a fully integrated karaoke function and plug-in music albums that will ensure the game stays fresh and current.

"Dance:UK will be a landmark title in the history of both Bigben Interactive and the dance game genre." said Neil Meredith, managing director of Bigben Interactive UK. "Dance mat games have already proved incredibly successful outside of the traditional gamer demographic. Following extensive research I believe we will take the genre even further and deliver a few new twists along the way. Dance:UK is one of those products we thought we had got right, but following the amazing response at E3 we now know for sure."

Quite how the plug-in albums for Dance:UK will work is unclear at this time, but since Bigben has its own accessory division, 4Gamers, it's conceivable that new music for the game could be uploaded via the console's memory card slot. We'll bring you more information on Dance:UK, which is scheduled for release in Europe in September, as soon as it becomes available.
