Imagine X-Men, in Awesome Form!

User Rating: 8.5 | Prototype X360
What's better than a total badass killing and mutilating military personnel? A total badass with badass powers killing military personnel. I won't use the word "badass" again in this review; I promise.

Prototype follows the misadventures of Alex Mercer. We don't know much about him at this point, except he is a total ba... and seems to have unusual abilities (Apparently caused by a virus). We soon find out that a corporation called GenTech is behind this; so, Alex decides to use his badassery (Technically, that's not a real word) to get revenge/find out what happened to him. As it turns out, every time Mercer consumes a specific enemy, he gains the subject's memories. Mercer finds out about a girl named Elizabeth Greene, who GenTech has supposedly been experimenting with. Alex thinks it would be a grand idea to free her and figure out what the fudgesticks is going on. As it so happens, Greene is infected and apparently evil; freeing her causes the release of a horde of creatures upon the city.

Now that we have the basic story out of the way, we can move on to the important stuff. Prototype is a fast-paced brouhaha of total anarchy and mayhem. That's right; I said "brouhaha". The best thing about this game: it never gets boring! It has such a variety of missions, you'll never feel like you've been wasting your time performing the same tasks over and over again. The entire game takes place in Manhattan; which means the game is HUGE. One of the first things you'll notice while playing the game is the overbearing similarities to Assassin's Creed: The crowd will react to your transformations and killing them. Although, unlike in Assassin's Creed, killing innocents does not cause you to lose health. One of the most unique features in the game is whenever you consume anyone, you can use their DNA as a disguise; meaning you can pretend to be a military officer and even call in a freaking strike team to bombard your enemies. Although, the disguise ability only works with humans.

The first abilities you receive is gigantic claws, which you can use to rip your opponents to tiny pink bloody bits, the power to run fast and up walls. You will later gain other powers like huge hammers for fists, a whip arm, the ability to fly, and a monkey-trucking sword. You can also hijack friggin' army tanks and helicopters. There are so many more, but I don't want to give too much away. You must find out for yourself!

This game has great visuals and an interesting soundtrack, blah, blah, blah. The voice acting is good for the most part. Well, that's all I've got for you. This game = a great purchase. Yes.
