Prototype is a great game that mixes free-roaming, fun, a good storyline, and fab gaming extremely well! But......

[PROTOTYPE] REVIEW (FOR PLAYSTATION 3 AND XBOX 360):

Prototype is a more violent, adult version of Spiderman, inFamous and Hulk-like games. It includes slashing peoples limbs off, running up walls, free-running,free-roam mode, upgrades, E.P. (which stands for 'Evolution Points', that are basically a different type of X.P., which stands for 'Experience Points'. You can spend these points at the store to buy upgrades for your character), a lot of blood, superhero/super-villain gameplay, mutants/zombies, and infection in New York City, etc. See my point?!

In Prototype, you will play as Alex Mercer, a, no, not a bike courier or journalist, but a, well, actually, you don't really know.... either you (the player) or you character.

See, you woke up in a morgue, with absolutely no memory whatsoever! And, as if it couldn't get any worse, two guys are standing over you, about to take your clothes off (OH NO!!!! Wait, there's more!) and cut you open (to perform an autopsy). Of course, you get up and push them away from you, and then leave.

When you get outside, you guess things now really can't get any worse, the army have been called, and are on there way to kill you.... AGAIN!! They shoot you down, but you, and them, soon discover that you simply come back to life. Shocked, the soldiers try again. But, you don't let them! You easily hop over a high fence and land nicely on the other side. You then go to the only vague memory you have, of your sister, Dana Mercer, who, it turns out, doesn't leave very far away.

Once you successfully get there (you have to defend yourself along the way against the army.... AGAIN!!), thinking it now really, really, REALLY cannot get any worse, right? WRONG!! The whole reason why you were "dead" was that a lethal virus has been released into the city and, guess what? Go on, guess! You have caught it! However, on the bright side, it hasn't killed you, turned you into a blood thirsty zombie. What it HAS given you, is amazing new powers; such as being able to run fast, run up walls, turn your fists into hammers, shields, spikes, and long, sharp spears. You can also jump a lot higher than before. As well as all that, you can also grab, consume and then literally become someone. How it works is that you walk up to someone that has a blue D.N.A. icon above their head, you grab them, and then press triangle (PS3) or Y (Xbox 360) to consume (eat) them! You then get all, yes all, of their memories stored into YOUR brain, and can then, if you want/need to, you can actually become them! This is useful if you need to gain information on a particular subject, and/or need to disguise yourself to get into a military base or whatever else.

Good:

1) The free-roaming and free-running are great and fluid.

2) The kill moves/attacks are bloody and gruesome, so are, therefore, awesome!

3) The story is good, even if it has been seen before.

4) The characters are interesting and all have a specific meaning.

5) The cinematics look great!

6) The upgrades really do help you get around.

7) The monsters are horrible-looking.... which is good!

8) The fights in-game are fluid and look fantastic!

9) It is based in New York City!

10) It involves lethal viruses!

11) The 'Web of Intrigue' (which is where all of your 'consumed' victims' memories get stored) gimmick is cool!

12) There are collectables hidden around the massive city, increasing the game's replay value.

13) You can pick up and use any weapon you find.

14) It is quite a good length.

Bad:

1) The graphics, unfortunately, are not very good, especially for a game that came out in 2009 (which is the same year Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came out in)!

2) A few annoying glitches can be seen.

3) Occasionally, the lips go out of sync with the character's speech, especially in-game.
