This Month's Topic: Getting the most out of your Xbox 360 (accessories, upcoming games, HDTV)
Can an Xbox 360 be hooked up to the screen of a laptop computer via the VGA cord?
No; most laptop computers only have a vga output. Meaning that it cannot receive an input from the XBox. If you have a laptop that does have a vga input you will be able to hook up your system.
What exactly do I need to get surround sound for my Xbox 360. I have the optical cable but what all do I need and is there somewhere I can look for setup instructions?
For starters you need to get a complete surround sound setup for your Xbox. This usually consists of a surround sound receiver, your center channel speaker, your two front speakers, at least two rear speakers, and last, but not least, the subwoofer. The optical cable will hook into the surround sound receiver and that will decode the signal to the speakers. Another option is the Logitech Z-5300E or a similar system. With this system it amplifies the signal so you do not have to have the surround sound receiver. You will receive setup instructions with the purchase of the system but a better option is to consult with the professional installers at your local Best Buy.
