then making more portable gaming its better intergrate all funtion in 2 go..like at least phones+game interactive+tv? (better develope in holographic watch or phones)...try make a new 1 like portable 3d using virtual reality setup..gamers nowdays need 3d advance or more bigger screen and better sounds for fully immersive and enjoy the game/movie....not just a portable...

Cool-looking handheld. Now I can travel with my laptop, my PS vita, the 3DS and my Headset.....

maybe I will need a bigger backpack (and larger shoulders and back too). by the way, welcome aboard you Martin (@squidmania), you will love gamespot as long as you say everything the gamers want to hear.

Wait, so it doesnt actually have its own games, it just streams from the PC? Whats the point really and you need a 600 series graphics card aswell....erm....

This is basically pointless.  So you need to be close to the PC to play PC games?  Useless.  What a gimmick.

Steaming games has too much issues for this to be a success.

So, i will be playing PC games using a controller? That would seriously restrict the kind of game that we can play on it.

Not to mention,it is huge and no way will it fit in your pocket ( it will be a portable device as long as you carry a backpack with you).

No thanks!

So I'm confused...in order to play this, do HAVE to stream from a PC or is it just an option? Meaning you can just simply download PC games and play as you go?

shadowhunter0 like.author.displayName like.author.displayName 2 Like

yeah you can stream games onto it but probably have to be in the house so why not just play on your pc plus you need a specific card and chip to do it and if you don't have those you have to buy a new pc

so for me I will just stick with my vita for portable games

Futboljunky
Futboljunky like.author.displayName 1 Like

@shadowhunter0 That is the part I don't get. This device will probably cost a decent amount. On top of that you have to have a pretty decent computer to actually run the games. All to sit on the same wifi network and not really be portable.

The portable part comes in if you want to fiddle with emulators or crappy android games. That is, for the exception of time wasters (i.e. angry birds, burn the rope, etc.) which no one would want a separate device for.

I will also be sticking with my vita.

shadowhunter0
shadowhunter0

@Futboljunky yeah and it probably just anther way to get people to buy that new chip and card that are needed to stream games from the pc

A good device for emulated games from SNES, PSX, Dreamcast...

buccomatic
buccomatic

@strongmokus it's as powerful as your pc is.

it will require you to have a gpu (in you pc) that is on par with a 660 or higher.

Looks like streaming devices are the next gen of things between this , the steambox, and the uyua thingy.   And at anything with the talk and patent's of sony's anti-used gaming thing for teh ps4, this streaming console thing will most likley do very well.

ggregd
ggregd

@ELEMENTZERO707 There is also Nvidia's Grid streaming server platform which is their open version of onLive - anyone can buy the server and stream their game.  They will probably stream to this device when it has a WiFi connection, they just haven't specifically said so yet.

Futboljunky
Futboljunky

@ELEMENTZERO707Sony also bought a streaming company. No doubt they'll use it. Wouldn't be surprised if they stream a lot more games with the ps4/vita.

shadowhunter0
shadowhunter0

@ELEMENTZERO707 that is all that it will probably be just a patent companies patent stuff all time and never use them

I don't get it...stream games from the PC?? Soooo...you can sit on the couch and play a PC game a few feet from your PC?? Or will you be able to stream over a wifi connection anywhere?  Which would be cool, but if not, what is the point?  Anyone buying this?

I Dont really understand why people are comparing this to the Vita. Its is not remotely similar, the Vita is a standalone device. The Shield is effectivley a handheld grahics card which streams games from your PC, you still require the PC for the games to run. This is in no way similar. The shield is something completely new which no one has tried before.

shadowhunter0
shadowhunter0 like.author.displayName 1 Like

@KingofCabal plus you need a specific card and chip in order for it to work and if you don't have those then you have to buy a new pc

streaming from ps3 should have been as standard

shadowhunter0
shadowhunter0

@itchyflop but the ones that you can be steamed can be done from any ps3 model and can be done from anywhere this probably well only work in your house and it require your pc to have a specific card and chip if it doesn't you can't stream unless you buy a new pc also it will only work selected games as well

Andorid!!? i don't think so this project will success because the design the idea and the device it self have alot of Mystery.. you talking about tegra3 and PC powerful performance and from design i think the games will available digitally only.. it's big to be handheld and about streaming thing to play the pc games on 7 inch screen. it's not worth to pay from 200-400$ on it.

Well this looks shit. It wont beat PS Vita, that's for sure (maybe in sales thought..). And besides why would you play this when there's gaming laptops?

Playing PC games on the go?   Seems just as worthless as playing PS3 games on the go.  Give me a handheld with it's own unique set of exclusives any day.

@Crossel777 It can not play pc games on the go , only android, but can be tethered to play steam games on it.
