An impressive racing game. Excellent graphics.

User Rating: 8.3 | Project Gotham Racing XBOX
Project Gotham is quite a masterpiece. The details of the cars, buildings, sceneries are impressive. The user-CD or user-Radio feature, which allows you to use your own recorded music instead of the tracks that comes with the game definitely enhances the gaming experience.

Those who are used to Grand Turismo on Playstation or Playstation 2 could definitely learn to control the cars pretty quickly, not so much for thos who are used to the arcade-style, non-destructive, Need for Speed: Underground 2.

The level of realism in the game is moderate, cars do get smashed and tail lights get busted when you hit other cars or the guard rails. The sound effects and engine sounds are as good as the graphics, although GT3 seems to pay more attention to the characteristics of engine sounds that each car makes.

The two critisism that I have with Project Gotham is the Kudos point system and the number of cars. The Kudos point system is taking too long to register the accrued points, that you can too easily lose it when you hit something before they get registered to your total Kudos point. That's pretty annoying for me. As with the number of cars, there is only a total of 25 or so cars available. Come on Bizzare.. Even GT2 on PS1 has much more cars than that...

In summary, Bizarre Creations has done a good job in showcasing the graphics abilities of the Xbox console in Project Gotham. If only we have more cars, more tracks (not just FOUR), and a better kudos system, the game would have been close to perfect.
