Yeah this thing is really bizarre, I'm new to Xbox LIVE myself (only played a bit of R6V2 online so far) and I'm at 3 and a bit stars right now. I've had 3-4 of my friends give me good Rep, and the change is really miniscule.

On the other hand, a friend of mine has horrible ratings (from being too good at Gears lol) from tons of people, yet still has 5 stars.

Oh well...I wait patiently for my 5 stars. :)

Well this topic kinda feel to the wayside. It would be great if we could get some more awareness of this fact. Maybe even some GS staff input on the feasibility of this or pros and cons from their side (since they should know what is possible and what's not). :)

I do support this idea but why list only the accepted banners, I would list all the banners the user submitted.capedbear

The problem with that is, the list can become quite unwieldy, as TONS of banners get submitted, some of dubious quality. On top of that, I just think it's more of an achievement to just list the banners that have actually been used on the Gamespot site, to try and tie it in to the gamespaces a bit more. Suppose I've entered 80 banners over the course of 2-3 months, and none get accepted. Do you really think all 80 of those banners should be displayed in my profile? :P Of course, this is just my opinion.

*agrees*

The least they can do is leave the reviewer system with the 0.1 scale. I just feel it allows for a lot more accuracy, especially as you mentioned when comparing scores between games.

I agree, it's simplifying the rating system, resulting in less accurate reviews in my opinion.

Overall, I think this redesign is fantastic.

My only gripe with it would have to be with the User Reviews. There seems to be no space for "older" 8, 16 and 32-bit systems. Maybe just have another icon that represents "retro" games, and list them all under that?

Other than that, I think it's great and would love to see this implemented. :)

Personally, I haven't noticed this so much on the GS Staff reviews, but definitely in the Player Reviews. in fact, I'd say about 70% of player reviews are appalling. I don't know if any filters or restrictions can be placed when someone tries to submit one without getting in the way of "free speech" and all that, but I always thought player reviews should be written decently with well-formed opinions and clear, if not fantastic, prose.

Anyway, hope I'm not hijacking your topic, but in any case, I agree with you. Any review posted on this site, staff or otherwise, should imho at least be written in decent language that's not grasping for dull adverbs and adjectives like a drowning man grasps for air.

Hi, so I'm not sure if you're all familiar with the Gamespot Gamespace Banner Union or not, but basically, it's a Union that encourages Gamespot users to create banners used in Gamespaces for games which the GS design team have not been able to address. The reward for getting such a banner accepted and put into use on the site is the Artistic Genius emblem. While that recognition is nice, you receive it after one banner gets accepted, even though a user may submit (and possibly get accepted) multiple banners.

My proposal is basically, to implement a section under the Contributions tab in a user's profile (possibly named Gamespace Banners or something similar), where people can view the banners/games that said user has submitted and had officially accepted. This can possibly be done by just giving links to the gamespaces themselves (providing the user's banner is still in use) or links to the images of the banners. This way, you can track your existing contributions to the gamespaces and get due credit for your banner designs, all in one, neatly organized place.

If anyone has any criticism (constructive please), or any ideas to add to this, feel free to do so. :)

Thanks!

Pie for sure. Cake is great, and I love it, but nothing beats a good bit of pie. ;)
