Devs has become such an easily-thrown word these days. It seems the gaming community sees "devs" as us animators, concept art guys, and production grunts in general. But PR guys obviously see something else: producers and publishers are also considered devs.
"But this will help the devs earn more money" Again, let's look into the two kinds of "devs" here:
This is true for publishers, higher uppers, and suits (as we so derogatorily have come to call them) who have access to revenue, capital, budget, and money in general.
This is NOT true for us working class citizens. Me and other users have tried to make this clear: we run on a fixed monthly income. Come on guys, isn't this glaringly obvious? We're not really earning extra...
@DaBlackFalcon Ideally that sounds smashing! *Insert Nigel Thornberry face here*
But you know, that's really all just idealistic thinking. Think of this more as big and powerful entrepreneurs getting rid of the competition and closing hundreds of doors, so all that's left are the few doors that they have control over.
You can, ideally, think of this as unification efforts... Or you can also, more realistically, think of this as digital Martial Law...
@NeoChaft It already generated an economy (the used game market). It's been there (not nearly) as old as beta-max and cassette tape rentals.
I agree that sharing profits WILL make both parties happy. But if Sony wants to squash some small time businesses then obviously people are gonna grab some pitchforks.
I know some people from those outsourced countries... They're worse off from what I gather. Makes you wonder wtf the Higher Uppers do with the budget that the client gives them.
