@Renunciation:

Thanks for letting me know, I bought the game. I really like its style.

But when I saw it I immediately thought of indie games like Limbo or The Final Station.

The game looks great but I'm not falling for it. She'll probably die at the end and I'll be bummed out for a week.

"I wanted to kill them in epic ways, not listen to their sermonizing."

Well said. My thoughts exactly.

From video review: "...engaging with three or more is simply futile."

Not quite. Being horse archer makes it possible, provided of course you have room to maneuver. If you have decent bow, hitting lightly armored target 1-2 times is enough. For fighters with plate armor, you can hit legs and thighs to slow them down. If they get too close just gallop away, turn around and keep firing.

Using this technique I killed all bandits and Cumans from Pribyslawitz by myself, and what a battle that was.

Save system is annoying in the beginning but it can be bypassed with a mod. I cannot say bugs got in a way of enjoying the game; to be honest, after playing almost 40 hours cannot recall any significant ones.

Alleged realism is slightly exaggerated: in the very first town you can gather enough herbs to sell them for small fortune. Sometimes it leads to funny situations where merchant will offer you tidy sum of money for dandelion you picked right in her own yard.

So far my favorite part is hunting bandits with a bow while riding a horse.

@NinjaGaz:

I play these indie games and yes, they are that good.

But I suspect that once again this is like this discussion, what is better a tractor or Ferrari? Since most people prefer Ferrari they are disappointed when tractor gets good reviews.

You are all intelligent beings (gamers) and you need to be able to understand when good review is for type of game you wouldn't like. Of course, reading review would help.

It's a great game but not for everyone. I played about 18 hours so far and I think I had maybe 2 fights. You don't get any experience points for fighting and most of the times you can avoid it.

"And is easy to notice, where did you wrote your post? ah..."

I wrote that post on my beautiful 8 core PC with gaming case and graphics card that when new cost more than any console. :)

Long live PCs!

Take care

For point #1, that's true, but I still believe everybody gets what they want. Checkout kickstarter, there are niche games funded there. I have funded realistic RPG game set in medieval world without magic. That sort of game could not have been made in the past.

Second thing is, people actually don't need PCs anymore. They are being replaced by tables, phones and etc., all of which are power enough to perform most tasks people need. Consoles are not just gaming devices anymore, they are entertainment centers. You might not like console games, but plenty of people do.

Look at it this way: there's huge range of gaming devices for everybody's preference. I have lived enough to witness birth of gaming and I think this is the best time for gamers ever.

Regards

@Antarte:

It's not one vs. the other; there are games for people who enjoy big productions and those crowdfunded games for others. I appreciate having both, although I play way more games such as Tyranny.

"toy-PCs named consoles"

And btw, I would not put down consoles. They are quite powerful for reasonable price.
