I agree it was on purpose but not exactly to give an advantage for either team. It was a way to make more money for the league and teams involved. This was the SECOND game the 49ers participated in that was a nationally televised game that got suddenly blacked out. Remember the Monday night game against the Steelers?

I believe that this was a ploy to help the 49ers get their new stadium deal done and was a the test run for the SuperBowl.

With a black out, you get a delayed game. With a delayed game you get extra airtime. With extra air time you get more opportunities for advertising, more viewers, more concessions, more everything.

There's big money in televised sports, not just in advertising and sponsorships but where the real money is, in the numbers.

Look for it and it can be found.

The whole Te'o thing is bad all around. He clearly needs better support from better people if he really wants to be successful in life. No matter who came up with the fabrications, he needs better direction and advice from people that actually have a good sense of moral judgment and actually do care for his potential.

[QUOTE="ice144"]hahaha, i dont know how they expect to be taken seriously with that nameBatCrazedJoker
It could be worse though, another name Tom Benson was considering calling them was the New Orleans Brass.

I kind of like sound of "The Brass". Sounds harder than Pelicans and literally is. Could be all kinds of promotional tie-in. The "Brass Section" in the N.O. Arena is the cheap loud seats with noise makers galore. It could be really festive.

NFL's competition committee consists of Head Coaches and GM's with a sub committee of more coaches/gm's. I understand the safety concerns but unless they are in the back pocket of Goodell, I don't see it happening. It would ensure the loss of NFL players' and coaches' jobs and the NFLPA would never let it happen.

[QUOTE="X360PS3AMD05"]People have noticed http://joeposnanski.blogspot.com/2012/10/when-cheering-stops.html

Thank you for this article! It's a good take, though I disagree with the one guy's thinking that nobody will be there in 5-10 years. The more likely is, if things don't get cleaned up somehow, there will be less and less civilized people and families. People will pay to go to games and that will not stop. We've seen it, even with bad officiating, people will continue to shell out. It's entertainment. But many will not be true fans or represent themselves within the guidelines of sportsmanship.

Yeah, I know someone who says he wants to wear his Chargers jersey to Oakland and taunt Raiders fans. :?The-Apostle
Yeah, that is exactly what's going on these days. Too much bravado and posturing. I respect anyone who wants to represent their team but to go in and act with that kind of attitude is uncivilized. Act how you would act in any other normal circumstance. Just because you're at a game doesn't mean you can loose all sense of civility.

There have been more fights lately, but it hasn't been what you might think. It's usually unruly fans drinking too much. But it's not usually just random acts of violence. As I've witnessed the last two weeks, Bills & Giants fans, have been going out of their way to talk and goat people into hating on them by acting rude and being completely ignorant of their surroundings. It's probably because they're a bit self conscious wearing the road team's jerseys while being surrounded by a sea of red, then acting out this strange machismo to counteract their being self conscious. Or they're just really ignorant. I told a guy last week, look around you, you're going to piss off the wrong person and he should chill out. He did for a second then went right back to yelling and cussing and talking smack. As soon as he went down the stairs and around into the tunnel a mob of people followed all gunning for him. Some people just do not know how to act in an adverse environment.
