As the Title says, because of the way GS re-did the site's

Reviews

(other articles are also affected)

are no longer right-clck'able and therefore one cannot for example go to your Newly Posted Reviews and open the individual Reviews one is interested in a new browsing tab.

This problem is due to the addition of all this eyecandy and of course, Flash.

Flash does not give you the normal hyperlinking right-click open in a new tab option.

A way to fix this would be to add/replace an HTML (non flash) hyperlink above the review that includes the game title just the way it is now.

Personally, I do (sorry, did; I no longer do) this on both GameSpot and IGN: I find the review I am interested in (sometimes 10 reviews at a time), open them in new tabs and put each game's review from the respective site next to one another. Either right away, or throughout the day I watch/read one review after another. I do not want to have to constantly hit the Back button on the Browser, risk loosing my place, or you posting new reviews that push the ones I am still interested in off the main page.

I have many many other complaints about how the site was redone and have encountered even more bugs, crashes and slowness. I understand that putting up a new site or redesigning is not easy, but please, before you add anymore features or eyecandy, please take a look at what needs fixed.

Tested on IE9, IE10, FF 23-24 and newest Chrome.

Who else feels this way regarding the inability to open stuff in new browser tabs via right-click?

I do 100%. That is driving me away most, as I don't want to have to do all my browsing through a single GS window. How could anyone think that was a good idea?

And for those not understanding, on the main page, if I saw a headline, I could right-click, open in new window. Now, that option doesn't work. Even on YouTube, you can click on the pic of the video to open in new window & have several windows open at a time. 85% of the time, I use one hand to browse the web with my mouse, so keyboard shortcuts are useless. I'm not willing to change my habits. It's easier to change websites, tbh.

@OmitName: Lol! That's jokes.

@doubleBU: Whether the reason is cosmetic or technical, I think we can all agree the new layout sucks and is deterring many long time users such as myself from frequentl visits.

Agreed. I still can't change my avatar, upload images, etc, etc, etc.

How about not even being able to get anything to come up to change the avatar or the nonworking buttons on the Profile Settings page? Even if it takes a while for the avatar to change, how about letting us at least change it? As it stands right now, I still have a default avatar as the buttons do not work at all for me and a few others around here.

Exact same issue with IE9.

That 1.6 GHz CPU is a kicker, as GW2 uses the CPU alot more than normal games. I don't believe that will be enough to run it at comfortable settings, unfortunately. I hear it does scale well, but I have not played GW2 on the lowest settings, so it could surprise me on all low settings. I would definitely wait for more opinions before buying it to play GW2.

I'm sorry I don't have time to offer an alternative, but I don't know your price range, etc. Look on Newegg.com, TigerDirect.com, Directron.com (especially the 1st one), and you're sure to find a great deal if you don't rush into a commitment. Mobile CPU's & GPU's are nowhere near as good as their desktop counterparts, even if they are named similarly. Just make sure the CPU is at least more than 2 GHz with 4 cores, whether that be Nvidia that has dual core with hyperthreading (the i3's), or the 4 cores without hyperthreading (an Nvidia i5, or any AMD quad core). I'd recommend 4GB of Ram if you have Vista or newer OS. You would also be best off having 500MB - 1GB video ram for a decent experience in GW2. Actually, here are the bare minimum specs from ArenaNet -

The current minimum requirements are as follows:

  • Windows XP Service Pack 2 or better
  • Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon 64 X2 or better
  • NVIDIA GeForce 7800, ATI Radeon X1800, Intel HD 3000 or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better)
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 25 GB available HDD space
  • Broadband Internet connection
  • Keyboard and mouse

Here is a thread that GW2 members are posting their PC specs on (PC & laptop), and the type of settings & framerate they are getting. Scan through it & you can match up the stats of the laptop you picked out & see if the experience that people playing with those specs are satisfactory for your girlfriend. Hope that helps! https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/game/players/What-are-you-running-GW2-on

Ouch, that's my bad. I don't post here much anymore, but found the thread title in a search, and was interested to find it a GS. I didn't pay attention to the date. Sorry for doing it again, but I had to explain myself, lol. :wall:

You are completely fine, man. I just stabalized mine this weekend - Antec 302 case w/ 6 fans, i7 960 @ 4ghz, X58 Sabertooth mobo, H80 Corsair ALC, 3x4gb Gskill Sniper Ram @1600mhz, two 2gb GTX560 SC's in SLI, 850w NZXT psu. Mine would tickle 85 sometimes on core 0, while core 3 is about 8 degrees cooler.

I had it stable at 159 bclk x 25 multi, but about 10 hrs into Prime95, I'd get errors when I upped it to 160x25. I had run memtest86+ for 8 hrs on these 3 sticks of ram. They were supposed to be 1.5 volt sticks, but I kept getting those errors, and even on Linx (I always tested w/ all free memory which was ~11gb most times). iad gone up as far as vcore 1.343, qpi/dram (vtt) 1.417. temps got up to temps I mentioned. I couldn't find anyone with 3x4gb sticks ram @ 1.5v. Most had 6 sticks of 2gb, or when they had more (gb), they had memory with 1.65 volts. Every tech site said set ram at factory specs (on label). Mine were 9-9-9-24 & 1.5v (which CPU-Z verified). I kept pushing the qpi/dram up cuz I thought it was the imc on the cpu. I finally got sick of the failings (not BSODs, and my ram was sound on memtest), and raised my vdimm voltage little by little. I finally got up to 1.61v & lowered my qpi/dram (vtt) to 1.36. Passed 20 runs of Linx using 11+gb of ram in 4 hours & 4 mins. Now that I know that was my issue, I can roll back the voltages on other stuff & optimize my system. My 24 hour Prime95 run will be last.

It is perfectly fine as long as it's not staying at those temps. Mine is 39-44 idle & gets to MAX 67 while playing BF3. It will be less, but even at that, these Bloomfields (including the D0 stepping) are made to run hot & withstand LOTS of heat. If you were folding at home daily, then I recommend finding a lower temp by using a lower clock speed, etc, but if you only raise the temps while gaming, then that temp is DEFINITIELY SAFE!

Happy OC'ing, bud. Take care.

Looks hideous on the dark (ie One True) background.

Slow_Show

QFMFT!

I see all the positive comments were made before this disaster was in effect. What has GS done now? Magrino, and now the comment system? Driving a 12+ year reader AWAY from GS :(.

after you watch them a dozen times each, and realize the slider doesn't work on them, they are actually quite shoddy (RE:Revalations is a prime example, imho). 1st party games will always look decent, but even the mario one you can see how jaggy he is. either these videos suck, or we were lied to about the graphical capabilites of the system. gamecube could run mario sunshine w/ no jaggies on an SD tv, and this is supposed to be wii graphics on a 4.3 inch screen? whatever.
