so I bought a new controller today fully charged it while downloading that new gotham beta, played it for a bit then turned ps3 off... it turned back on again by itself... apparrently my old controller was not to blame... don't have ps+... no idea what's causing this and why it happens only some of the time.. ps3 is off right now and seems to be staying off

last night i entered my room and noticed ps3 was on... i had not played anything in about 2 or 3 days... turned it off and turned it back on and it ran a system file check for a min... everything seemed to be ok then i turned it back off and it turned on by itself.. this happened a few more times before it seemed to me that my sixaxis had become possessed took sixaxis outside of house far away from console and problem has stopped... has this happened to anyone? and is the dualshock 3 decent or should I look for a new sixaxis?

Last night my PS3 was running fine, it's a 2 1/2 yr old 60 gig model that I've never had any problem with, it's in a smoke free well ventilated environment. This morning I went to turn it on and the screen is frozen. I can hear the music/ sound it makes when I first turn it on and the clicking sound effects as I scroll through the menus, but I can't see which menu I'm scrolling. I managed to click on a video file on there and could hear the audio from that file but still no picture change. Is there a way to reboot the system without sending this into sony for a replacement? I really don't want to lose all my saves.
