Hey guys,

I just watched the hour long Robert Bowling interview with gameplay on Gamespot, and saw that there are new private match modes (which look awesome!).

Just wondering if there will be an online open lobby private match lobby so randoms can all play together in these games if they aren't friends?

It would be awesome if that was the case, because I don't know enough people to make a 12 person lobby :S

Hey guys,

I was just watching some BF3 and MW3 trailers, and realized how far this generation of consoles has come on the same hardware in terms of mechanics, fluidity, and visuals. Call of Duty is the best example of the two, because COD2 was on this generation consoles whereas BFBC was the first battlefield on console, and it isn't too old.

Trailers:

Gameplay:

What do you think? Big improvements made or same thing just polished up from old games?

I was just thinking back to COD4 and how much fun it was. For me it was really the turning point to which I really started to enjoy video games and progress through the ranks (I played COD2 which was a great time too, but it didn't have any ranking system).

Looking at Black Ops I find they have really strayed from what was just plain 'fun' in previous titles, and they have tried to implement too many new features that it just isn't as much fun. With the COD Points system, they have just eliminated the whole feeling of accomplishment when you have been trying to get that new gun or that new camo for the gun; I think EA has really suceeded in this in MOH and BC2 by giving you experience in the class you are playing, and from that experience you unlock weapons and equipment for that specific class only.

Don't get me wrong Black Ops is still a fun game, but I think they have strayed too far from the basics of Assault Rifles, SMGs and Snipers. In black ops and even MW2 they have taken away diversity in the classes, and a sniper can beat a SMG at close range, and a SMG can beat Assault at a distance. There is no more snipers taking vantage points and SMGs moving in close, with assaults somewhere in between; this could be partly to do with map design, and the lack of that diversity (such as creek, overgrown, crossfire etc. in COD4 where the classes could actually play their own part).

I can assume MW3 will have the COD points system again, and for me it just eliminates the whole fun in playing the game to rank up and unlock new weapons, equipment, camos etc. I can also assume that Battlefield 3 will have the same ranking system as BC2, which to me is loads more fun. I think that Battlefield 3 will probably have the role system in that snipers hold the line, and assault and SMGs push forward (or something like that).

If this is the case, I will probably be playing Battlefield 3 over MW3. I'll still get both but I just hope they can make some changes for the better!

Maybe the new trio working on MW3 will really stray from Treyarch's ideas like they did from World at War to MW2, and maybe they are going for more of a run and gun fast paced arcade style game, but to me they should stick to the idea of "modern warfare".

I don't favour Battlefield over COD like I said earlier, I enjoy both games, and I am speaking purely about the multiplayer aspect of the games (excluding the Spec Ops/Zombies, wager matches etc. which were really fun). You can't directly compare Battlefield with COD either because they are both going for completely different game styles, I just think they have overcomplicated the fun out of the game (mostly COD, but Battlefield 3 could do it too, who knows: it`s too early to tell).

Agree/ disagree?

This is my first post so go easy on me! :)

[QUOTE="tic-tac-man8"] The XBox has many more games that I would like,

iamdanthaman

Nothing else matters other than this. Why are you getting a game system? Why did you get rid of your Wii? Because of the games. Who cares about the online or the wireless adapter or whatever.

Get the system that has the games you want. That's why I got my 360 and that's why you should get one. Wait for the Price drop then get an elite, you'll have plenty of room for Arcade games, music, videos and full game installs when we get the dashboard update.

Not that I have anything against the PS3, if I had the money I would buy one, but I had to make a choice, and I chose the 360 because of Halo, Fable, Gears of War, Mass Effect and Lost Odessy. Some others may buy a PS3 because of Resistance and Metal Gear Solid. But those weren't the games I really wanted, so I got the 360.

If the 360 has the games you want, and you sold your Wii because it didn't have the games you wanted, then if you get a PS3, you will eventually sell it too, because it will not have the games you want.

Good point.
Thanks.

[QUOTE="tic-tac-man8"]Hello,

I have just sold my Wii for $750.00, and am looking into getting either an XBox 360 or a PS3. (The Wii wasn't really coming out with any games I wanted, and did not have good graphics, even with the HDMI cables).

I am just wondering what system you think I should go with and why? The XBox has many more games that I would like, but I would also like to get the XBox Live wireless adapter for it which is around 80.00 I think... way overpriced if you ask me. I understand that the PS3 has an internal wireless adapter, but the PS3's online doesn't nearly match the XBox live's online.

I am leaning towards the XBox 360, but would it be better to get the Elite for the extra $150.00, and have the HD cables and 120 GB hard drive, as opposed to the model's down 20 GB?

I would really like some input, preferably from people that aren't one-sided towards one system, and why you think one system would be better?

What add-ons should I get if I do get a system?

Thanks in advanced.

hayato_

Since when did the Wii have a HDMI port?

I was about to say the same thing. Somethings not right.

Anyway, if this is true, get a 360 when the price drop comes and PS3 when the price drop comes.

Get the both of best worlds. You can't go wrong.

Alright thanks,

When/ by how much do you think this price drop will happen, and how much will it drop?

I mean the PS3 is $400.00, and the XBox 360 Elite is $450.00. Would the privce drop be significant?

Thanks

Sorry, I'm not sure what HD it has, but I did get HD cables for it separately. I don't know a whole lot about the technical side of it.

Get the PS3. The online is so close to XBL, there's really minimal difference in my opinion and it's free. I have both so I know what both offer. Most all games are multiplat also.

If you are going to choose a console, I think it's better to choose it for the exclusives.

I personally prefer the exclusives of the PS3 over the 360. Also note that you will need to spend extra on 360 accessories whereas it is included with the PS3... for example, batteries, charge kits, XBL membership, wireless adapter, etc. All those add up more than the PS3.

Both are good systems, but I'd go with the PS3 because: Online is free and very very close to XBL (PSN is lag free for me. Never had an issue), Bluray, games IMO are better, built in wireless, bluetooth included, rechargeable controllers, quality hardware and such.

The only other deciding factor in choosing besides the exclusives would be to see what most of your friends have and go with that console.

Hope that helps!

Happy gaming!

KinkInDaLink

Thanks a lot!

That helps a tonne, because you have both. : )

Any other opinions?

i have both as well and prefer my 360 by a large margin, but it all depends on what games you are more intersted in really. I love my Halo :) Which exclusives do you like the look of most? This should really be the only factor that comes into play.

As i said b4 a wireless adaptor you can pick up for $30, so that really shouldn't factor in to the decsion

Thanks for your input.

There are definately some more XBox 360 games that appeal to me rather than for PS3.

It actually wasn't so much the wireless adapter that I was worried about cost-wise but the XBox Live fee that you need to pay annually.

Thanks

The only thing Xbox 360 has going for it is LIVE. People say that Xbox Live has better online than PS3 but PSN is just as good, there is almost no lag on PSN. With the amount of updates SONY releases and the future ones to come, LIVE is looking less and less attractive and worthless.

Everything LIVE has PSN will have in time and it will be Free. Gears of War 2 comes out for the 360 this year (November) it's the biggest game of the year for Microsoft, while LittleBigPlanet is the biggest game of the year for SONY with nealry infinit replayability.

The Wireless adapter costs $99.99 with an elite it would cost close to 600.00 dollars with tax, not including a game.

The PS3 has aa powerful WiFi connection built in for free basically. And costs $400.00 if you compare the over all value VS the 360 you will see why the PS3 is the better system.

Listen.

I've gone from 360 to PS3 to 360 to PS3 then a Wii back to 360 then back to PS3 then back to 360 ... I finally settled on PS3. Yes I could own both systems but I only like owning 1 system at a time. And most 360 games will be on PC anyway, that is why I am saving up cash to buy a high end gaming PC.

PSYB0RG1

Thanks again,

I'm leaning towards the PS3 more and more.

It also seems to have a lot less problems than the XBox 360 (red ring of death and overheating problems).

So the PS3's online system is completely free and similar to XBox Live?

Thanks.
