TDU is - or was - the same way. The open-world freeroam was like a giant road-system lobby. I didn't know that was the case with Burnout Paradise until I had a head-on with someone, both of us in Hunter Rally carbon...thingies...

This is actually the first open-world racing game with off-road racing. "What about TDU-2?" Oh yeah, I forgot about TDU-2 - just like everyone else. If you ever played the first TDU, you haven't any real need to play the second one aside from the dirt races. NFS:HP felt quite slapped together. It's like someone stuck in the 90's screaming, "EXTREME!!!" The free-roam in NFS:HP is dull as dirt. (HA!!! Looke @ me i maed a funy.) You can't just go between free-roam and race mode in HP. Also, the whole "slow-motion-crash" thing is so played out.

At any rate, this is all my opinion, and I don't expect anyone to agree with me. So, I'm gonna take the high road. (HA!!! i dun it ugain!!!) I'm not gonna start name-calling over a game. That's just sad. I do have to wonder, if you really feel this is "just Dirt 4," are you saying you don't like the DiRT games?

It is true that this game is inspired by the Dirt UI, which in its turned was inspired by GRID, which was an improved UI based of on some NFS games.InquisitorCrox

Quite wrong. DiRT was split away from GRiD. The two had nothing to do with NFS gameplay; they were joined together as a sim racer in the form of the Race Driver games. NFS has never been a sim racer - not even Shift. In addition to the various forms of rally in Race Driver, there were also the Colin McRae games. I think CodeMasters did better then, even though I thought - and still think - CarPG's are $#!7. I hated Race Driver 2's career mode.

Saying "this game is Dirt 4" is a bit foolish, too. If you were going to call a game "Dirt 4," I think that title would go to Showdown. Though, I'm probably just picking, now.

The original most wanted was great, but criterion physics suck.ojugyujxsygrh

Amen to that. Not to mention their by-the-numbers tedious AI.

I downloaded the game from XBL and I noticed it takes forever to load. Sometimes, the screen stays blank until I press the guide button. Then, it's like doing so was a "reminder" that it was suppose to load the game. I have to hit the guide button, and the THQ logo finally comes up. Then, when it gets to the title/press start screen, when I press start, the screen freezes. Again, it seems I have to hit the guide button for it to prompt me to select the storage device I want to use, then the game will finally start. Is it a technical issue in game itself (at least the games-on-demand version), or did something **** up while it was downloading? I will make mention there was a rather nasty thunderstorm, that evening (whilst it was downloading).

yeah I am thinking I will be picking it up this weekend

perkinsj26

I don't think you'll regret it. I bought it just last year, and I liked it. I also have some DLC. I have "Trials of St. Lucia" and "Dark Forest." My only complaints are that "Dark Forest" is a bit on the short side, and "Trials of St. Lucia" is online-only. Online-only wouldn't be a bad thing, except once the servers are shut down, it'll be completely useless. Likewise, if XBL goes down, it's useless. I thought it would be fun to have customized arena-style battles, but was disappointed after creating a match, and finding I could only play it via XBL. Though, most people would probably be more enlightened than me, and would know in advance that "Trials..." is online-only. While I wanted it just so I could create - and play - embarrassingly easy, blood-soaked battles, the majority of other players would be interested in playing other peoples' uploaded matches.

Anyway, I still made a good purchase. The combination of puzzles and combat is great. QTE's can be a bit frustrating, but the game is quite forgiving.

So...yeah...

First, I want to state ahead of time that I am not trying to make this a PSP vs. DS thread by any means, but since Roman_Irishman commented on PSP being the best handheld, it brought to my mind a beef I've had, and I need to get this out.

Alright, GRID has come out. It looks like an awesome game. It was put out by the same masterminds of the Race Driver series, which is my absolute favorite sim racing franchise over both Forza and Gran Turismo. What I don't understand is why GRID is being released for the under-powered analog-less DS and yet, not for the PSP. Yeah, the PSP's analog nub is not the best, and is only moderately better than the analog sticks from the original Playstation, but it's still better than the straight D-buttons of the DS. So, why is GRID being released on the DS, but not the PSP??? The PSP is far better for racing games than the DS. The DS is better suited for FPS's and RPG's as well as some point-and-click-style adventure and strategy games previously only suited for the PC's mouse.

Come on!!! I want GRID on my PSP!!! :o

If any of these titles interest you go for it. Note, these aren't even all of them.

I absolutely love that mosaic! I had to download it!

also there is Toca Race driving. I have a demo of TOCA3 and its pretty sweet, sorta like Forza, but i havent seen the game in stores. also i highly recommend Wipeout Pure (download for $10.99 on playstation store) OR Wipeout Pulse (new $29.99). Burnout Legends is supposed to be good, but i havent played it yet.Talldude80

Actually, Wipeout Pulse is only $20 at places like Walmart and Best Buy. I also think, just even from the demo, it's a better game than Pure. Though, maybe it's because Pure has been frustrating the **** out of me! In the demo for Pulse, I noticed in the custom race mode, you can select weapons on or off. Also, I know Pulse has custom soundtracks. Nice touch. Though, it wouldn't be worth it if it's as much a pain in the ass to play custom sdtks as it is in Liberty City Stories. Just seems like too much work.

I really like the PSP. It's evolved quite a bit since the last time I had one back in Summer 2005. Since March 2006, I had just a DS, and it is a great system. I've put quite a bit of time into many DS games, so one could say I am quite the DS fan. Yet, I do love the PSP. So many great games. Hopefully, there will be more to come. I wish Sony and 3rd part devs/pubs would realize if a system has top-notch games, people will buy it. The extra media functions are great, but they seem to be more of a "wow, I can do this stuff, too" type thing. After buying my first 13 games, I only bought my first UMD movie this weekend. (One of my all-time favorite movies; Snatch.) Sadly, I noticed the UMD movie scene is about dead. Best Buy was where I got Snatch, and they're the only ones I've seen who still cary UMD movies.

I don't know much about emulation, so I'm speaking solely on what I have read. But, in order to properly emulate a game, doesn't the host system have to be at least twice as powerful as the system you're attempting to emulate games from?

Regardless, the PSP simply wouldn't have enough buttons to accommodate a PS2 game. So, about all we can get are games that are actually somewhat stripped-down ports. True emulation, control-wise would be seriously problematic. Not only does the PSP have only one analog stick, it also lacks R3/L3 buttons which refers to clicking the sticks down.
