Street fighter 2. Mortal kombat 1 and 2 - and just pc gaming in general. These days though, it takes a lot to really impress me.

Um, aren't you missing the obvious point that people buy consoles for the exclusives?
I mainly play older games instead of trying to keep up with the latest.
Also I'm getting more and more selective. I'll only touch what I consider to be the best of the best according to my taste.
What I don't get is that certain gun loving men used to like seeing women with guns in the media. Now the very same kind of guy finds the idea of a woman with a gun threatening, especially in films. It's like it's empowering for men to have a gun, but seeing women with guns is disgusting, these days.
Just a difference in execution. Men loved seeing women in action roles back in the day because it was about the strength and competence of the character's writing. Their gender is irrelevant if it doesn't require their sexual characteristics to progress the narrative. These same people don't feel threatened, they feel insulted and object to incredibly amateurish writing and grade school character development combined alongside an obvious agenda.
So when they object to those things, the Left immediately throws labels at people claiming them sexist, bigots, threatened, etc, when that isn't even the case. Why? Because they so desperately desire "equality", "representation", and the hatred for the white man to be propagated and reinforced that they'll dismiss the utter incompetence of writing (the actual problem) and attack those who recognize it in order to be able to do so.
Yup. I can't believe there's actually categories in Neflix for movies/tv shows with "strong female leads".
If I'm looking for some entertainment I want to know if the show/movie is actually any good - I couldn't give a rat's a## if it has "strong" female lead characters.
Problem is, feminism has been taken too far. Females were undoubtedly underrepresented in the past but now the balance has moved past the equilibrium point and MEN are now the ones struggling!
Anyway, on topic I just saw the latest (and final) trailer for Dark Fate. To be fair it does look like it will be a good movie unlike Batwomen which is man-hating at it's finest without ANY quality whatsoever.
This decade has been a bit of a letdown.
I can think of quite a few series that have actually gone downhill:
Fallout series
Deus ex series
Mass effect series
Doom series, wolfenstein series (okay, controversial but that's my opinion anyway)
Metro series
Dead space series (after the second)
Maybe the 20's will be the next golden era of gaming.
I agree with F.E.A.R and some of the earlier fighting games too.
There were no mobile phones or internet. I suppose in a way it was a more innocent time.
Okay, I'd encourage you to research these carefully by reading the steam reviews both positive and negative.
I used to love the old Master of Orion stuff but honestly I haven't found anything that lives up to the original greatness of these games since.
I tried Sins of a Solar Empire which was okay - like 6/10.
And I've also tried Galactic Civilizations III: I tried it awhile back but found it too complicated and confusing to get into.
Hm, not really feeling it.
Yep, I think it sound like a pretty solid game. I'm more interested in the single player than the co-op though.
Just be warned in single player some of the bosses take almost forever. They are made for multiplayer and gearbox does a horrible job at scaling anything for single player. The rest of the game is very manageable solo, but some of those bosses.....yuck.
You mean moreso than bl2?
Because those bosses didn't bother me too much.
