I'm thinking of picking up another 6870 to run in Crossfire and was curious, are there a lot of games supporting this function , or is it losing support? I have the IceQ Turbo 6870, wich overclocked rather well, so I'll indeed pick up another one of the same to match. While some games play flawlessly on Ultra, games like The Witcher 2 seem to only run @ medium to high settings. I'm wondering if another 6870 will help, or is it best to just get a 6970 or 6950? I just didn't want to have to spend that kind of money, especially if running two 6870s will give me a almost equal experience. Thanks for your input.

Yes crossfire is worth it A pair of HD7870's will definately do it. Also you can try pairing up some HD 7950's will absolutely do it.

I can't seem to get my e8400 higher than 3.5. It's not unlocked so that's probably my problem. If I take mine to 3.6 I get an error in prime 95.

Only thing I've changed is my cpu frequency. Voltages are in auto and I can't manually change them. I have a good cooler so temps are fine @ 3.5

Thats probably because you need more cooling, or your e8400 can't go any higher than 3.5. (Because it wasn't designed to do so. It's probably code for error prevention.

I haven't tried this fancy overclocking yet, but my PC is showing it's age, so I have been pondering if it is a good idea. I'm new to this, so it would be kind of you to recommend a good program, tell me what I should now, and whatnot.

Am_Confucius

Well I wouldn't do it. Unless you have a back up plan and some serious cooling. You'll gain greater proformance but you'll also gain a greater chance of damaging your hardware. But if you decide to do it. DON'T increase your processor's voltage more than a 4.0 clockspeed.(With air cooling) liquid you might be able to get it to 4.3. But I would highly not recomend it unless you plan on getting new powerfull hardware.

Hey everyone. I've been playing the BF3 beta on my PC and am thinking of getting it. If I get it on PC (can also get for PS3) do you think I can run it on medium with about 30 FPS

My rig:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500@ 3.16ghz ( can overclock if needed to get to medium)

NVIDIA GTX 275

4GB of RAM

Windows Vista 32 bit

EDIT:1680 x 1050 resolution

Also, how much more better could I play BF3 if I swaped the E8500 for a Q6600 ( 2.4ghz)

Thanks in advance

You should be good as is. But if you overclock you cpu to about 3.0-3.6 you will be good to go.(I always say if you can't run it stock upgrade overclocking just heighten your risk of shortening you CPU's life.)

What would be the best thing to do? I'd like to max out shogun 2 and any other new and future game. I'm getting a 570 on xmas but about my cpu.. should i overclock it or is it better to just buy a i5-2500k or whatever they're called :p

Thankies

Never overclock anything unless you know what your doing. (Even if you do I still wouldn't) your core i5 stock settings is fast enough to run any game out there right now. I wouldn't even bother I would just go with the gtx570. Your good.

i just bought a SLI board,( i only have one GTX 570 ) to see if my PCI-e x16 are working can i put my GTX 570 on the second slot anf turn on my PC and see if it display anything? or i have to get a second GTX 570 SLI it and see if my PCI-e x16 slots are not borken?

msfan1289
You shouldn't have to do that. When you boot your system it would tell you if there is something wrong with your PCIe bus. OR just go into your device manager click on system device manager "system devices" it will tell you if you PCI slots are there or not if they are they work. You need 2 SLI GC with the same GPU series and a SLI bridge to make SLI work.

yes i do. the problem is with the second pcie lane not reading the card?Kokuro_Kun
It's either the PCIe bus lane is a mess, or you may not have both power connectors connected. (seems like a duh response, but that can make the 2nd GC not work or be detected, it it is not powered up.) Either that or go on NVIDIA's website and get some utilities to see if it is your motherboard.

[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"]Ok, so I saw Crysis in the PSN store and was freaking out because C2 is one of my favorite FPS. All I ever hear on forums is "dude, C2 sucks compared to the original" or "C2 is consolized garbage." Naturally that got me curious and at $20, I couldn't refuse. Game is all bs hype. What I like - the strength and speed in this game are pretty awesome, and I can see why a lot of people were upset over their absence in C2. It's still fun to run around and take out enemies however you want. That's it. What I don't like - everything else. The "open world" environment (which it isn't even really open world, so nice exaggerating guys :x) is so dull, generic, and empty feeling compared to C2's fantastic vision of a destroyed New York. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, and this couldn't be more true when comparing the environments of these two games. C2 may have been smaller, but it was a hell of a lot more interesting. And how bout dem graphics? C2 is beautiful on consoles, albiet with a few minor technical hitches. C1 on the other hand is one fugly looking game with those same technical hitches multiplied by 100. This is the best Crytek could do on PS3? There are far better looking games that actually ARE open world, like RDR and InFamous 2. The biggest annoyance though is that C1 doesn't even feel like a game, but more like a tech demo. Where's the story, characters, pacing, epic set pieces, etc? C2 had an excellent campaign that moved at a nice pace with atmospheric environments. The gameplay felt smoother and more varied in C2 as well. Crysis - 7.5 Crysis 2- 9.5

Well first off I can tell you that the consoles versions of Crysis 1 don't give the game justice.(both the graphics and gamplay are inferior to the pc version.) 2nd off this is what happens when a market gets staturated and becomes too mainstream)t things that made a product great, get over looked to please the casuals.
