Not only have there been thousands of comparisons to the two, this topic and question has been done to death. 360 gamers get their online gaming, cross game chatting, and access to demos. PSN gets online gaming, and relatable downloadable content. If you pay for Playstation Plus you then get access to early game demos, and the occasional free aracde game that usually is not worth it and will be deleted once your plus membership runs out.

you just cant stand that i m right. give me one single reason why 360 >> ps3 this yearALTAIR360

Because 360 has been better the past 3 years. Look there's tons more to a console than exclusives. What about the bevy of excellent multiplat titles? What about the uncomparable online expierence? What about the dozens of games that came out last few months that some of us are still playing? What about Kinect? I mean really? This thread is as pointless as having two ********! Seeing as how I have both I really won't be missing out on much so that's no big deal, but it seems that while YES you may enjoy your PS3 you deep down inside are trying to convince yourself it's ok to only own one. Now seeing as how PS3 is soooooo great, tell me why I haven't turned mine on since Uncharted 2. GoW 3 was bought DAY ONE and yet it still sits on my shelf NEVER played...know why? Because other games on 360 sounded like a better idea to me and has been for almost a year now.

Well they didnt change it where i live( i checked this morning) And i just wanted to buy ONE game.. why should i get more points than the points i need? :S The whole Points idea is very bad for the consumer.

Solid_Tango

I think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill. If they have not changed the points system where you live then really honestly, what's a few dollars extra? You're willing to pay 15 bucks for a 2 dollar iphone game, but feak out that you have to buy 2 or 3 dollars more in points? It sucks, but think of it as tax. If you bought the game via a retailor like you can here in the US you are charged 14.99 PLUS tax which equates to about a buck or two more.

Just curious, have you downloaded all the new updates. That use to be the old prices, they recently changed to match the advertised prices of 400,800 etc. Now you can actually buy 400,800,1200,2000pts so your not left with leftover points. Not sure what country your in but it should all be the same if its all just Xbox Live, but these prices/point combination changed well over 6months ago around here.

funkydude31

Exactly what I was going to say. The points system has changed to adabt to real purcashes since most items cost 400, 800, 1200 and 16 points respectively. Everything on the Marketplace is the same as it is on PSN or Wiiware. What surprises me is that Nintendo emplores a similiar tactic for it's online purchases yet no one ever blames them for nickel and diming anyone. It's not nickel and diming anyone if it's content people want and it costs the same as other services. PSN charges for an online magazine subscription and early access to demos, is that considered nickel and diming? Nintendo charges you 5 bucks for NES games that are worth about a dollar or you ALREADY have on an NES if you held on to it long enough. Is that nickel and diming you?

[QUOTE="Ravensmash"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] Apparently most people who have used that service think those other services are not worth it according to the poll and many of the responses in this thread. And we were now talking about choosing and you cannot choose not to pay for the online service which you already paid for to your ISP.HuusAsking

But you can choose not to pay for XBL....nobody is really being forced (I was a bit harsh yesterday).

But I can't choose to pay only for the single-player offline portion of a game which is all I really want out of a 360 game. Sure, I don't want Live Gold; the price is not worth it for me since I can buy more than one game instead of buying even a discounted 12-month card (opportunity costs here). But we're paying for games that have locked components in them. In most circles, that would be considered unscrupulous (and in some countries, illegal--I think European law deals with some of those cases). Imagine buying a car and not being given the key to the trunk. Or buying a house only to learn they took out the windows. Or a television where instead of the remote control you find an order form where you send in $19.99 (plus S&H) for something every other manufacturer (for sensible reasons) includes standard (as in sales aren't really going to fly once word gets out about your stinginess--and I wouldn't call a 25% participation rate anything to really trumpet about).

Here's a poll question one can pose: "Do you pay for Xbox Live Gold because you WANT to or because you HAVE to?" That might paint a better picture on the Live Gold participation (and yes, I said "have" to--imagine if your buddies all have 360s, are all too far away to travel on a regular basis, and all play online; not paying for Live at this point becomes a potential social disconnect).

I pay because I WANT to. I have a ton of friends who play online and I personally enjoy the connectivity with friends more than playing games by myself. I like to know what games my friends are playing, when they are online and how far they are in a game. Single player based games are fun, but to me feel lonely. In a world where social connectivity is the most important thing it's nice to have that in my favorite past time acitivity. I pay for LIVE because I WANT to. I have three times the amount of active friends on LIVE then I do on PSN. Not all, but MOST PS3 players I run into tend to be more of the single player type. They don't particualrly care about online multiplayer and only use the PSN service to glance at DLC or media options. they dabble with online, but prefer to play theirsingle player game and be left alone. They don't make much of an effort to communicate with the community. Again this is MY experience I'm not saying all PS3 owners are that way. I also dislike turning my PS3 on only to have to update it every other week, and preinstall the game before i play. That's a big reason why I stay away from it for the most part. I also prefer Xbox's visual approach to it's hub as opposed to the drab XMB style. It's really all a matter of choice. But again I pay for LIVE because I WANT to, if it was offered for free and remianed EXACTLY the same of course i wouldn't pay for it. no one would that's a stupid question to ask.

you can't decide anything because your thought processes are handicapped by an emotional connection to a product.

Riverwolf007

Sony fanboys are the WORST when it comes to this.

[QUOTE="argetlam00"]

Only someone lying to themselves would. Xbox Live Gold is an absolute ripoff and I can't believe people allow microsoft to get away with such BS and actually DEFEND having to PAY to fully use products that you BOUGHT.

Teufelhuhn

You have trouble understanding that people don't mind paying money for something that brings them fun and entertainment.

Not everybody sees the XBL issue as some epic struggle of good vs. evil. ;)

Well said!!!
