Just in case anybody should be reading this thread: I did a google search earlier and found some debate about this on the Telltale games forums. This is a pretty major bug and it seems to be affecting a lot of people. One of the devs stated that purchasing and installing episodes 4 or 5 (or both) and restarting the console would fix this bug. Some people commented that it worked, some said it didn't and some said that there game save was erased as a consequence of doing this (very off) workaround. The dev also said it was going to take a while to patch this issue and there was to be no solution in the next few days. More info here: http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42058 (it's probably worth keeping an eye of the Telltale forums for the next few days for more info and to see if/when this problem is patched) Anyway, this is affecting a lot of people so if you were smashing your face into the wall frustrated about it then rest assured, you weren't the only one. Pretty annoying that Microsoft allowed broken content onto their marketplace and kind of funny that what many are touting as "Game of the Year " is so totally broken but hey ho, what can you do. You might actually be able to get a refund from Microsoft but I'm not sure how you'd go about that. Anyway, hope that isn't too much of a disappointment and hope this thread was useful to somebody :)

*SPOILERS THROUGHOUT*

OK. So I tried to replay the RV chapter to see if letting Lilly stay on board would for whatever reason trigger something in the level, but upon selecting that chapter I was instead whisked away to chapter one of episode one. Great, I thought. So I quit out and tried to select a chapter from episode 3 but couldn't as my progress had been erased. Fortunately it was only my progress from the third chapter and the game hadn't erased my earlier decisions, or that would have been a total deal breaker.

Anyway, I whizzed my way through episode 3 from the beginning, making different Big Decisions at the appropriate moments (this time I shot the woman and let Lilly stay with the group only for her to steal the RV regardless) in the hope it would make the game behave differently. It was all to no avail.

The bug begins when you retrieve the copy of the instructions (character freezes, unable to move but able to interact with objects). You can complete the cabin puzzle without consulting it but despite Kenny telling you you've been successful there is no way to interact with the button labelled 9 in the engine compartment. You can twist the key prior to setting up parts 5 and 6, but once that's done there is no way to interact with 9. My hypothesis is that you have to consult the startup guide at least once for the the final part to be triggered but since the game bugs out it thinks this has been done zero times. The moment you try to look at it the game breaks down and there's no way to continue.

I'm essentially at a total dead end here. I would restart the game and maybe go through making different decisions to see if the game behaves differently but tbh I can't be bothered to go through about 4 hours of gameplay only for potentially the same outcome. Moreover to make different choices would compromise the uniqueness of my game. Unless this is patched I'm pretty much done with the series.

Has anyone else experience anything like this at all on the 360 version of the game?

I'm at the part where you encounter the derailed train following the argument in the RV and am playing on the 360. The puzzle involves restoring power to the train engine. I've used the pencil in the RV to do the leaf rubbing technique in order to get the engine startup instructions from the pad of paper. However, whenever I try to combine the instructions with the controls in the cabin by pressing B the game totally bugs out; Lee just stands there, the cursor disappears and the only interaction the game affords you is to press B to go back. All this achieves is to make the instructions flash up on the screen for a split second and Lee to briefly vanish before going back to just standing there immobile. So, I restart, do everything again but after getting the instructions I write them down on a piece of paper and input them on the machine without interacting with the paper. This works, the cutscenes activate but the real problem comes when you leave the cabin and try to interact with the engine. I open the door on the far left (beside the tool locker) and see a '9' labelled which corresponds with the instructions, but I can't interact with it at all. The on screen prompt doesn't work and I've tried clicking everywhere. Nothing.

So am I missing something? I've interacted with *everything* (killed the car zombie, talked to everyone, tried to uncouple the trains etc etc) and the only logical thing I can see now is to press this 9 button on the engine, but the game won't allow it. I tried restarting the chapter, but the same problem persisted and I got nowhere. I hope I'm just being dumb and this isn't a game breaking bug since I'm reluctant to restart the entire episode; I'm worried I'll go through everything again only for the same problem to arise.

*SPOILERS* also don't know if this is relevant but I sided with Ben and left Lily after she killed Doug. Does making certain decisions mean the solution is slightly different or something??

so a couple of weeks ago I get a message from someone saying i "affended" them in a game and they'd filed a complaint against me. weird, i thought. i normally leave the mic unplugged and never trash talk anyway, so i check his games and the only thing we both have is gta which i haven't been on in months and when i try to submit a player review it says we've never played together. ah, i think. he's got the wrong guy. so i send him a message explaining this to get a stroppy, badly phrased response basically telling me to go to hell.

do microsoft take these things seriously, or are the complaints like the player reviews where nothing really comes of it? if so i'll just let it go.
