The Road

"The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can, pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say." J.R.R. Tolkien

There seems to be something rather peculiar about roads. Maybe it is the notion of great adventure that lies waiting right beneath your feet. Leaving the crackling fire and warm familiarity behind to follow the ancient path that connects distant lands and runs as far as the winds blow.

A kingdom and its proud castle nestled among rolling fields. A snoring dragon deep inside the warm belly of the earth guarding a tremendous trove of treasure as far as the eye can see. A quiet cabin puffing smoke at the edge of a deep and dark wood.

The journey itself is what makes this road so magical. For each step on this path brings us to the awareness of new life and new discovery. New companions and friendships forged along the path fortify our spirits with hope even among the darkest of hours.

And the road leads on and on and and if we are fortunate enough, brings us back again to the crackling fire and warmth of home.

"It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end" Ursula K. Leguin
