Gears Of War 2, Super Street Fighter IV, and me

Hello all y'all. Long time no Spank!

I've been busy busy with my XBOX 360 and a mit full of fantastic games. The latest of which is Gears Of War 2. I sat down with it 2 nights ago and have nearly finished the single player campaign. It grabs ya and keeps you there. It's a monster. I will have to check out the original after this. Also, will have to play the campaign co op. I love a good co op campaign.

Started playing World At War co op with two other buddies the other night. Fantastic time with the headsets and all. Hilarious!

Super Street Fighter IV was a surprise. I bought it based on reviews, being a Tekken guy myself. Well I owned Tekken 6 for a while, and I got to admit, this thing buries it. The SFIV team have made not only a great fighting game, but lets face it, some serious eye candy for this gen consoles. The thing is gorgeous, and plays like liquid chocolate on cold ice cream With chips. I dunno, it's awesome. Get it.

K, shout out to my peeps from Legacy Consoles and PS3 Forums: hope you are all doing great and having fun out there. Sorry I jumped sides, but my PS3 bought it and I was gifted a nifty 360. I am diggin it.

That's all for now, happy gaming!

XBOX and me

The Xbox 360 and me have been having a blast since Christmas. Forza 3 and Alan Wake CAME WITH the console, and since I traded away all my PS3 stuff, I grabbed some Batman Arkham Asylum, COD WAW, Splinter Cell Conviction, NHL 10, Tiger Woods 10, Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider, and my buddy gave me Dead Rising.

So between that and all the online goodies, I have been quietly having a really good time with this thing.

Thanks Santa. I am a gamer again, and it's fun!

The summer wind, came blowin in, from across the sea...

Well my friends, its that time when the weather gets hot. REAL hot. The air conditioner can't be cold enough and ice cubes go in everything from orange juice to coffee. That's right. Ice cube oatmeal baby. It's a cool thing to do and a tasty way to do it.

So now you are wondering, Spanky, What Do We Play? You have been gone so long, we don't know what to put in our PS3's for fun. Don't worry. I am here now.

Run, don't walk, to your local game pusher and get yourself a cool copy of Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. The thing is insane. Insane. Then, go get Dead Space if you haven't already and check that out. Graphical ma gorical. Then, if you still need some eye candy that is easy on your purse, you need to download Wipe Out HD. For serious. This game is off tha hook. That's right. I went there.

Now we are all playing good games.

I recommend watching Arrested Development, phenomenal TV show, I would go out and buy all 3 seasons and enjoy. Can't say I have seen any really stand on your couch and scream "GOOD MOVIE" movies lately. Anyone?

Enjoy warm evenings, take your best friend out for a patio night, enjoy the stars. You know.

Trophies and the Bain Of My Existance

I have been replaying Tomb Raider Underworld for the trophies. Everything was going along swimmingly until the very last one. "Find all 179 Treasures".

Sure I say, off i go.

Well, I am here to tell you, between glitches, restarting, deleting saved games, walkthroughs, video tutorials and shakily weeping all over the controller, this game WILL NOT BE CONQUERED.

And it's a shame, I actually enjoyed the game far more the second time through Not sure why.

Fifth time? Not so flippin much.

And the scary part is I haven't really unlocked much of anything IN the game. It's like the designers forgot about how to make a game half way through. Maybe Lara's team knew what was coming and just thought "why bother?".

I shall persevere, but not now. I will be seeing little shiny treasures in my sleep tonight. Why Lara? We had such a good thing going. Didn't we almost have it all?

Love, and presents

Frosty breeze nip not the nose of I, your faithful blogger, for I have my coat wrapped round me soundly, and tonight shall warm myself with cocoa by the soft glow of christmas tree lights reflected in my window panes.

Thoughts turn from workaday woes and tribulations to warm hearted generosities and the splendours of a table overflowing festivity festooned. Nay, this is not a time for "Johnny Sour Puss" to complain about trivialities, cross game chatting or what the difference between a developer and a publisher is! Now is a time for pressing ones nose against the wonderful store front displays and gasping along with the other dreamers at Uncharted 2 and Tekken 6 and all the other goodies on our wish lists.

So grab a cup of nog, curl up with a hottie and watch "A Christmas Story" five or six times on your HDTV's. Christmas is coming, and you can all deal with it.

Random with ghosts

Get Beatles Rock Band.

I was playing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed last night from the beginning because they have enabled trophies since the last time I checked it out. It's actually a really great game. The targeting is a little loose, but the feel is awesome and you get to be a total jerk to the entire galaxy.

Halloween is around the corner, time to get out the spooky games. Here's the stuff in my collection I will be revisiting in time for the 31st:

Bioshock

The Orange Box

Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil Code Veronica X

Guess that's about it for spooky factor in my games these days. Huh.

I find Half Life games to be almost unplayable. They scare the crap out of me. I am not sure why. I would play RE all day before I could get through a chapter of Half Life.

Bioshock is creepy, but it's so cool I just love to look at it. That art deco style is the king as far as I am concerned.

Anyhow, hope everyone has an awesome Halloween. Eat too much and stay out late!

Falling leaves, Falling leaves, falling leaves, on the ground

Here it is September and I have left you guys behind all summer. Well I was busy, OK?

And NOW we have a lot to talk about. First of all, got my download-y little mitts on Marvel VS Capcom 2 and am pleased. It pleases me.

Secondly yeah I went out and bought Tomb Raider Underworld because they added trophies. You know what? I don't care. I like her body, and I am even better at making it do cool things the second time around. Yeah the story is kind of weak, deal.

So now all these people from all over town suddenly have PS3's. It's a bit claustrophobic. It used to be me and one other buddy here in town, now suddenly everyone is showing up in Paradise City. It's cool, but it's a bit odd after about a year of quiet. Welcome everyone!

Everyone.

Guess the slimmy is making things seem possible all over the world, huh?

OK, enough philosophy, Beatles Rock Band will be mine, OH YES. It will be mine.

I can not wait, and yet I must as I am bound to a promise I have made to travel to the ocean to the east to visit a relative with failing health, but mark my words that on my return that shining platter of Liverpudlian glory shall sheath itself in my PlayStation three and there it shall rain down the power and mirth that made the world realize that all you need, indeed, is love.

And one more mic.

Holy E3 madnesses

Well it is June in the land of cyber chit, cyber chat. The E3 has commenced and lookout! Here comes SONY. Guns a blazing, taking down names, no rest for the wicked, look out mama there's a white boat coming up the river, don't come around tonight, got my first real six string, she was a fast machine, I was born in a cross fire hurricane, and ready to ruuuuummmmmbbllleee!

I can't keep up with all the shenanigans and goings on.

I got to say, I knew it. From the second I put my money down for my PS3 I said to myself "it's Sony, don't worry" and here we are, SONY is shining like a new penny in the sun.

In my little world, I am enjoying BIOSHOCK for the first time, and i highly advise you do the same. Instantly addictive. Just picked up Force Unleashed tonight for $20 as well.

So rooty toot toot for me.

But rooty toot tooter for SONY seriously, you guys are really stepping up. I guess they have finally accepted that Blu Ray just isn't going to destroy the market as they had hoped, and have returned focus where it belongs, the mighty PS3.

Mightier still with all these great titles and new motion tech that promises to dwarf not only MS but the Wii as well.

Makes you think doesn't it? What could I be doing to better myself in these inspiring times?

Go for a walk? Paint a picture? Beat Bioshock? So many possibilities...

I will tell you this though, just looking at the E3 stuff makes me tired. It is WAAY more action packed than last year.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to one and all!

I have returned, after 40 days and nights of abstaining. Spring is sprung and the new games titter about the shelves like chicks in the coop. But what is that tempting smell from the kitchen? Ah.. the bountiful aroma of so many used games that will fill my pockets instead of emptying them. I guess I won't be "passing over" any bargains.

But I joke.

I have lent my time to other tasks, like the rolling stones said: you can't always get what you want. But now my game buying can be resurrected, and what timing!

Problem is I haven't been to a game store in so long I have no idea what I am going to run out and grab.

The other problem is I don't technically have any money. That sucks eggs.

Brightly coloured eggs! Bunnies and lemon grass!

Happy Easter!
