Beat Fable 2

This game was a blast! I played it every chance I got (including lunch breaks) since it came out last Tuesday. I beat the main story line and I have a few side missions left and 300+ achievement points to go after. This should keep me busy for at least another week. Great game! I place it right up there among my favorites with Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.*

*Except this game was a little on the buggy side. There were various bugs throughout including crashing my xbox a total of 4 times. :(

And now that I think about it, there was another bug where my companion dog's appearance was not consistent. The dog's color changed and I think the dog even changed breed during the course of playing through the story. By somewhere near the end of the game, I barely recognized my dog!:?

Beat Resistance: Fall of Man

Well, this is the first game I have beat in the past couple of months and it is also the first game I have played all the way through on my new PS3. Resistance: Fall of Man is a very fun shooter that has some really memorable moments, despite the fact that it is highly derivative. Off the top of my head, it is reminiscent of Quake 4, Doom 3, Halo, Prey, Half-Life 2 and Dark Sector. It is a very short game, only 11 chapters with an average of 3 sub-chapters each. I finished the game in about 8-10 hours.

The graphics and sound are everything you would hope a shooter of this caliber would be on the PS3, but there was one AI glitch in which my computer guided squad mates huddled together in front of a doorway of a small room and would not let me out of the room. I ended up throwing a fire grenade at them to get out, but unfortunately it meant I died and had to replay a long level over again...:x

However, this one AI glitch aside, the game is compelling and fun. This PS3 exclusive is definitely worth playing if you like shooters. I give it a 9.0.

Ninth Monthly Recap: September 2008

It was a good month. Highlights include finally getting a new copy of Dreamfall: The Longest Journey for the Xbox. Other outstanding purchases are: N+ for the DS (an excellent game), Taito DS Paddle (totally worth it), Rock Band 2 (worth paying full price), Test Drive Unlimited for the Xbox 360 (loving this game) and finally, Pure. (I love ATV games)

I shouldn't fail to mention Ridge Racer 6 which I really wanted and Castle Crashers which is surprisingly worth the $15. :D

Edit: I thought I was done getting new games for the month, but lo and behold, I now have a brand new 80GB PS3! And first game: MotorStorm!

A quick blurb about The Dark Knight

It seems this movie is a runaway success. Many of my fellow gamers loved it. Some even saying it is their favorite movie of all time.

Here is my take, as I'm not afraid to have a contrary opinion:
The Dark Knight is a long, boring ripoff of the Saw movies. The joker in this movie is basically Jigsaw, omnipotent, with a sick need for sadism and torture. Just look at the scene where the guy had the cell phone stitched into his abdomen. We've seen that before. The story was convoluted and uninteresting. I couldn't wait for the movie to end. I still haven't figured out what so many people find interesting about this film.

SEGA screwed up.. can't play The Club

I bought a brand new copy of the PC version of The Club that I want to play while my Xbox 360 is away for repairs. But I can't play The Club on Live because Sega screwed up and forgot to include a product key in the game that they released to the public!!

While all the articles I read mentioned that you can get a product key from Sega immediately, I found that not to be the case. I had to fill out a support ticket on Sega's website. I did so on Aug. 23rd. It has since been 24 hours and I have gotten no response from Sega. Hence, I still can't play they game I bought.

Between Microsoft's screw-ups and Sega's screw-ups, its a wonder that the video game industry survives. Gamers deserve better than this.
