Two things make up a good game for me: story and gameplay (obviously music and graphics do play a bit of a factor, but not big. If I dig your music/art, sweet, what else you got?). The best games, in my opinion, have great stories and fun gameplay. Great games compensate one with the other (great story and less-than-stellar gameplay or vice-versa), or just have both be good. I can deal with a lackluster story if the game is really fun to play (Modern Warfare 2 comes to mind, though the story isn't that bad in that game), and I can deal with not-so-great gameplay if I really like the story.

That being said, that one thing that makes story in games not perfect is the difficulty. If your game is ****ing hard and I can't deal with it, **** you and your game, no matter how good the story! I can't see it if I can't do the game part of it! Persona 3 comes to mind when I say this; I've almost completely stopped playing it, because the endgame is so jacked. Maybe I'm just not playing it right, but dude, how did people finish that game?

You still have to have the game in the drive to prove you own it, 'cause...you know, piracy.

I have a lot, but one of my favorites is in Battlefield 2 when I was playing with about 15 of my friends from an Simon Fraser University computer programming camp (instructors included) and I had just played it for the first time the day before. (because we were playing it at the camp, and one of the instructors installed BF2 on all the computers in 2 rooms. One room for one team and the other room for the other.)Anyway, I hadn't figured out how to land a jet quite yet and I would awlays bail whenever I wanted to get out. We were playing on Gulf of Omen, and I had bailed out of a jet so I could go capture the base near the crane. After I had bailed I watched my jet fly foward, and hit an enemy helicopter filled with the max amount of people (I forgot what the max is. It's 6 right?) taking them all out. From the room next door (where the other team was) I could here shouts of "What the ****!?" and "Damnit Kyle!"

It was awesome... Until I got killed seconds later while parachuting down because I failed to notice an enemy with a sniper.

Pokemon'll last you longer than than SPM, the DSL alone isn't enough to buy it if you already have a perfectly fine DS Phat, so I'd say Pokemon Diamond... But go with SPM anyway because that game is awesome!
