Everyone who said they never gave 2/3 a try I really encourage you to try them. Go into them with an open mind not camparing everything to other games and you'll have a blast. The guns are fun and the game can be challenging when you up the difficulty.

Yep i have no regrets on buying R3 on day 1, one of my fav PS3 games for sure.

In my opinion Resistance is an AWESOME series. The best thing about the series is undoubtedly the guns. They are unique and fun to use unlike more "realistic" shooters. Also R3 has a great competitive multiplayer mode, that's also really fun. I first went into this series thinking that it was a tier below Killzone, but after playing R2, although killzone has better graphics and a cool cover mechanic, resistance guns made the campaign just as memorable as Killzone's was.
