so how many frames per second are we talking about with a 3 GHz processor?

Well since you only brought up the CPU (didn't even mention whether or not it was single or double) it sounds like you don't really know what you're dealing with or doing. I'd reccommend steering clear from Flight Simulator X or most modern games until you have some basic knowledge about the components in your computer. Otherwise you're just throwing money in the trash can when you find out you can't run anything.
