@drummerdave9099:

Um.. you don’t just swing your sword over and over in zelda. You push levers, solve puzzles, find keys, get new weapons that you need to progress in the game.

Mass effect has you fighting but also going through a story. Finding things. Upgrading your abilities and specials. Learning combos...

Mario: timing jumps. Getting special abilities. Accessing new areas. Platform puzzles.

See what I mean? I guess when I say a button masher I mean a game that is very repetitive with very little change throughout the game.

Halo is more of a button smasher. You just shoot. That’s it. It can be fun but gets very boring. At least the single player campaign.

I see Okami is coming out on switch. That’s one game I never played and it looks like a zelda type game. Part of me wants to just get a switch and part of me knows there must be better games out there on other consoles that I don’t know of.

I also like splinter cell. A lot.

From google it seems blood-borne is like dark souls. And based on the reviews for dark souls it sounds like a game where you’re just going through a never ending dungeon hacking and slashing?

Is there anything more to dark souls? Is there even a story?

Ok I’m in the market for a new gaming system.

I have an Xbox and after that I went Nintendo. I had a Wii and Wii U.

I like games that challenge me. I don’t like button mashers unless there is skill involved.

On the Xbox I was ok with halo although It became too repetitive and button mashing. The multiplayer is what made it fun in the end. I loved prince of Persia and it’s puzzles but they killed it and moved on with some dumb repetitive assasin game.

Then I went Nintendo and lost adult games but gained Mario titles, Metroid, and zelda. All amazing. I love Nintendo games. And I know I won’t get too immersed and addicted playing them :)

Being that I’m in my late 20’s I don’t have as much time to play and I actually don’t want to spend countless hours on it. I won’t get anything done!

In single player games I like the story.

i never collect everything unless it unlocks something substantial like another mission or world or powerful weapon. I won’t do too many side quests that lead me on goose chases just to get a little money.

And once I beat the main storyline the game loses its hold on me.

I love all the Zelda’s of course. I love puzzle solving. Even the newest one botw was great although I like the progression of the older ones because this latest one had a sort of quick storyline.

Once I killed Ganon the game became boring for me. Why am I running around to each shrine now? Will it unlock an alternate ending? No. Moving on to another game...

I don’t have 300 hours of gaming these huge open world games. I have about 70.

So open world is nice but I won’t really play it once I finish the main story line. At that point I turn to the multilayer mode if it has one.

For multiplayer I enjoy pretty much anything that’s really exciting and makes me feel like I can advance in some way.

I like mass effect both the single and multiplayer modes. I was lucky that came out on the Wii U

So what should I get now?

I was looking at the Nintendo switch, only to realize I would only buy two games right now as I have the others on the Wii u. And third party support is pretty low.

I would get Mario odessey and maybe Bayonetta although I’m scared it’s a button masher.

I’m so out of touch with other systems I have no idea what’s out there and what would be best for me.

@foxhound_fox: Oh come on! I don't need an announcement for zelda, metroid, mario games on a nintendo console. I know they are coming at some point.

I didn't mean to come off as haughty, I was just annoyed that there are too many terrible levels. Anyways thanks for the links @thecouchpotater, I will check them out!

We have a wiiu because I have younger siblings and nephews and nieces and whatnot...

Im ok with it because I like nintendo games. My hope was that I would one day get to play Zelda wiiu! That was five years ago… Well that hasn't happened yet, but Mario maker looked exciting and so I got it! I became favorite uncle of the year and the kids like it. And I tried liking it too.

After the initial fun factor weared off, and I made all sorts of fun courses, I went to check out others on the course world. Naturally I chose to play the top rated courses. This is where I lost hope in humanity.

Now please don't take this the wrong way. I am not trying to be haughty. But the top courses are riddled with the dumbest and most stupidest courses of all time. Like levels that are automatic and you don't even have to move because it carries you from beginning to end. Some sad person spent time making a board where I just literally stand still. If I wanted to watch and not play I would have went on youtube…
Then there are courses where its a music course. Apparently you do nothing but walk and a song plays out… It was cute the first time…

And these boards are given stars and are the top rated boards!!! Why?!

Why aren't there regular boards that look like they can fit in a regular Mario bros. game? Now it occurred to me that these courses may have well been the creation of a 10 year old, but surely there must be some adults out there!

Then there is the complete opposite. There are extremely hard boards that only the creator knows how to beat. While these are the closes thing to fun I have found, dying more than 20 times on a course gets boring.

Im looking for boards that require me to jump at the right time, pop off baddies wall jump quickly and get to the end. Is this too hard to ask for!!!
If there is a forum or thread of courses that are 'normal' please let me know. Or courses made by people over the age of 18?

I haven't played the game in two weeks because I got annoyed every time I turned it on and found another dumb board. It makes me wonder what sort of people I live amongst… Then I go on youtube to find a woman stealing a vegetable steamer from a kid on black friday and I realized the answer…

So im a little bored and I have a wii u…

I figure the games look really cheap now and I can probably get one of the last gen consoles and play all the games I missed out on. I enjoy games that are hard or have some puzzles to them or are stealth like. I got the wii u just for Zelda! And it isnt even out!!

I like things like splinter cell, prince of persia, batman and other games of the like.

Im afraid of big huge open worlds cause I find myself sometimes really lost and I like when a game is somewhat linear.

i also don't have all the time to go world exploring.

So what are the best games and which console should I get?

is that really true? the same items are given to the people around you? are you sure?

But yes I noticed i rarely get red shells as often as i used to. I am getting a LOT of bananas, coins, 1 mushroom, green shell.

@JordanElek

i see what you mean that everyone would want to upgrade. perhaps only the junky items like a banana and a green shell can be upgraded. and the banana should NOT upgrade to rotating bananas but the straight back 3... more protection.

the surrounding shells and bananas never seem to protect me...

so mario kart 8 is fun, but i felt not enough changed, nor is there enough new things. I mean anti gravity mode is not special is the sense that everyone has it. its not something you get in the game. its just part of the scenery. It adds one thing though, the ability to boost off of other players. a slight added strategy.

Now I tried discussing intelligently what would make the mario kart game better on a different forum...

sadly I was met with er... interesting people who felt that 'if only there was a silver luigi, the game would be better'... really?... as if baby luigi wasnt enough... whats with the damn babies anyhow?

frankly i dont give a darn for the characters as much as I do gameplay, becasue the characters are not vastly different as in games like super smash. That and the fact that a silver luigi wont change the game!

Here are some fixes that would add strategy and better gameplay, unfortunately i don't develop games. only websites...

Item Upgrades:

it sucks when your in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place and you have a banana as your arsenal. And when you go through item boxes you sigh as nothing happens. It would be nice if there were upgraded items. This would add a lot of strategy:

hold onto your item and hope for a better one, while risking losing it to lightning or whatever...

if your in first place hold on to one item and watch it develop into something more suitable. granted it will take time... but the wait gives more strategy to the game...and protection.

keep your item for the next race:

the next race should begin with you holding an item if you had one at the end of your last race. this will be beneficial to people in last place. imagine someone in 12th spot starting with a bomb or a star? gives the loser a bit of an edge...

spectators should be able to grant items:

lets face it. its extremely boring to spectate. it would be nice if we were able to 'sponsor' an item to the player of our choice. imagine the excitement one would get when they realize that someone is watching them...and rooting for them.

So what do you think would make mario kart a more strategic game? cause right now theres too much luck involved i think... you can go from 1st place to last too easily. and from 12th to 3rd quite easily too.
