@capaho: as far as I know the only region locked game for the ps3 was persona arena. apparently the ps3 always had region locking of some sort but was left up to the companies to decide whether to enforce or not.

The problem with recommending tales of eternia psp is that it's first expensive (though not anywhere near as pricey as the ps1 version) and you risk the odds of trying to get a glitchless copy.

I just bought a psp myself recently so the game's I'll rec are

legend of heroes tear of vermilion

persona 3 portable

star ocean 2

valkyria chronicles 2 (already on the list)

and jeanne d'arc.

I'd say the best looking one to start with would be colosseum and gale of darkness on the gamecube. pokemon stadium 2 is arguably the best title for entry into the series as the classroom battles can teach you the basics and even hidden stuff you wouldn't come up with on your own.

I tried the demo, but I had no idea whats going on.... Im guessing this is a series that continues, I just want to clarify since Ive never played it, and well... I dont have a ps2 so Im not about to go buy it just to play. Is it like FF where the stories different each game? the demo could be a little later in the game

no kh is a series of sequels and prequels. they are all interconnected but arguably most of them aren't even worth bothering with. Story wise anything you would need to know you can find a summary on the internet for. besides kh2 and bbs the others aren't worth going to the lengths it will take to play them anyway. especially since they have 1 game on practically every system. gba, ps2, ds, 3ds, psp. coded and days are filler and bbs really just makes adds questions than answers.

I wanted to get a list going for them that way when and if I ever get to backtracking through my ps1 and ps2 rpgs backlog I'd have them ready sitting on a shelf.

a few I know I plan to get off hand would be mario and luigi, radiant historia, the world ends with you, devil survivor, and not really rpgs but 9 hours persons doors and phoenix wright and proffessor layten series.

I'm going to buy a bunch of old ps1 games since I'm backtracking looking for titles that I may of missed/never heard of before. I already looked at a faq that said that buying 3rd party is pretty iffy but I wanted to hear from users if there are any safe 3rd party ones to buy. I don't want to have to spend 20 bucks unless I have to.

They should be the same game. The U.S./EU release of Star Ocean 3(director's cut) came with a Slip Cover Box thing that was holographic and had Fayt on the cover. The DVD case inside had a different cover with has the game's title, and sort of a pink galaxy stuff in the background. Then there is the Greatest Hit's version that shares the same cover art as the slip cover box that came with the original US release.

Japan is the only nation to have gotten the original release of Star Ocean 3 and later on a Director's Edition.

ah ok then that makes sense. so i can get whatever as long as it has both discs then i'm good :) thanks for the help.

Aren't you the guy from the Tales of Graces f boards? Anyways, far as I know, there's only one version out here in North America, so I can't really help you there.

TheBlackKnight3
yeah i posted for rpg recommendations there a few days ago and already picked up radiata storied for the sweet cost of 3 bucks XD and now i was looking at so3 but i saw different versions so i wanted to make sure which one i needed. glad i looked up that it was 2 disc as there was really cheap ones selling for the same price with only 1 disc and i would of been really upset if i had bought it. i didn't know that both versions were 2 disc
