My biggest idea of failure of 07:

1) This thread

2) Everyone in this thread

3) Myself for being in this thread

lol joking. On a serious note:

1) Gaming For Windows Live - Who in there right mind wanna pay monthly for something you could already do reguarly. Oh wow, Mic capabilities like Xboxlive? I could do that with Xfire or Vent.

2) Gears Of War for PC - OMG Gaming for Windows live, requires me to pay to play co-op online. No thanks.

3) Crysis - The whole idea of major optimization was really far fetched, and they led us (although, hype also killed the idea) that the game was gonna be so highly optimized. Yet it isn't.

4) PS3 - Sorry to say the least, but there was nothing good for the PS3 this year. Uncharted isn't all that, and with all these capabilities, not being used, i see it as an expensive paper weight. Oh yes, forgot to say, it is highly expensive. (but things will change, hopefully I will pick one up when they are cheap and decent to buy.

5) AMD - Oh wow AMD, Phenom being all that? Let us see here..... Your phenom at 3ghz JUST barely outclasses (by like 1 and a half fps if not, less) then a Q6600. I am sorry, but for the same price, I will pick up a Q6600, and overclock it without even doing much at all in the bios, to reach and surpass that 3ghz Phenom.

6) Blacksite Area 51 - I had high hopes for this game. It looked decent from screenshots and videos, yet it fails. This is why PS3 fanboys should not get all excited over Killzone 2. Blacksite: Area 51, is a game based off of its orriginal game, Area 51, where that game sucked too. So if we look at history, it usually tends to repeat itself. Sorry, but KZ1 sucked, I don't have high hopes for the second one. #1 rule: Don't judge a game by it's graphics/cover.

7) Sound Cards - DDL, DTS, and OpenAL is the upcoming standard for everything. Yet, Creative decides to go ahead and not support them, and only support EAX, were they then pay gaming industries to use Hardware acceleration with EAX and leave out a lot of support for other companys who do not have a license for EAX 5. Big dissapointment for me (as creative sucks and so does the driver support).

8 ) EA buying out Pandemic and Bioware. Oh thanks EA, thanks for ruining other companys by buying them out. Does this mean we are now gonna obtain titles that have poor optimization, and obviously PC retarded (obviously ports from console)?

I have both, and here is my experience:

Gears of war was better on XBox360. I found the whole having to pay monthly just to play online with co-op is complete and utter BS. Gameplay is still there, but it is just draged on farther with the 5 new missions, which are not that fun.

The Witcher is a fun and pretty graphically amazing game. The game can get a little tedious at times and the combat is a little repetitive, with long and boring load times, with constant "auto saving", can get a person off of the game.

I found The Witcher to be better.

Max res on your TV, are you running it with AA and AF on? If so, then AA is what smooths out the jaggies around. What is your current setup?

The Witcher is a wonderful game, that requires some additional patches to fix some glitches and the bloody loading times. Other then that, the game is wonderful (but hard!).

If you want DX10 but price wise, the 8600GT is better. The 8600GTS costs about close to 200 (and it is the card I have) and only performes close to 7900GT.

Get a 8600GT, a aftermarket cooler, conductive ink, volt mod, and overclock, and you can overclock it to match the 8600GTS. But if you can wait out a bit, till end of this month, and obtain about 200 or more, you can pick up a 8800GT 256 that should be about 200, and will outperform the 8800GTS 320 easily.

All is in sort of speculations, with some odd reviews here and there. I personally am looking forward to the 8800gt, as I only deal with midrange computers. I always believe in bang for your buck, rather then best for most, and this may just replace my 8600GTS that is only 'mediocre' and kind of poor in some games, simply due to the price of this card, making it not really worth while.

it isn't your gpu, don't listen to the people with the vram, they know jack all about PC's. It is just a beta, lack of full optimization. Give it time.

Also, what settings and at what resolution are you playing it at? That may cause some problems.

It is DX10.1 that 8800 and hd2900 are both not fully compatable. But in terms of DX10, both are fully compatable.

The HD2900xt is really showing better improvement in performance as the newer drivers come out. This only shows that AMD is really working hard to get the drivers properly out and showing what these cards can really do. But Nvidia is also known for driver issues, and can only imagine that there might be even more potential in the 8xxxx series then what we see right now.
