Well this feature has been around for a week now, and people still seem to be divided about it being either good or bad. People appear to be happy with it in general, their just afraid of those that would abuse it.

Personally I'm not so happy with it. Mainly because of my curiosity. Instead of ignoring badly rated comments I find myself drawn to them. I have to know what it was they said. Was it really so bad or was the comment a victim of... the Console Wars.

Since others have claimed to read badly rated comments also, I have to wonder if curiosity is getting the better of all of us. And if so are we spending as much time reading bad comments as we do the good; much like before this feature was added? Am I wrong or are others thinking the same thing?

Another thought I just had, what if some new guy joins Gamespot, and decides to post a few comments here and there, but people begin to flame him and get his comments hidden. What if it affects his confidence? What if he thinks no one on GS likes him? What if he thinks no one anywhere likes him? Are they his friends or just like him for his money? What if he thinks his whole life is a failure? What if he considers suicide? What if I stopped being so melodramatic?

I'm not sure what to make of this. On the one hand you can just skip over bad, pointless or rude comments. On the other hand amward2001 makes a good point about your comments being hidden not because it should but because someone just hates you. I suppose only time will tell if people will abuse this or even care.
