In my opinion the game in it's entirety was one of the best games on the PS3 to date. I bought the game once it became a greatest hit. People all around told me to have at least an hour of spare time because the cutscenes are too long. Blah, blah, blah...

All in all the game was great. The cutscenes were more like watching a movie. It enhanced the experience. It involved you emotionally. I know that people are going to say that it was too much movie and too little gameplay, but what do we play for?

Is it to beat up bad guys in some virtual world that we have no physical contact with? Is it to satisfy our desires? What if people made a game where there was no story, and only pointless killing? Would that be what we, as gamers, want? What I'm trying to say is that people often say things like the CG cutscenes were too long, or too boring. In my opinion it did something that a lot of games are missing today; it added story. If you want something that is pointless and for the single minded dimwit, then go play Modern Warefare or COD. Those are games (though fun as hell, and very enjoyable) that lack story and are jammed and packed with action.

MGS4 did leave a bunch of questions unanswered. I agree with some people that say that it's to set up the next game. What will happen? Who knows? Hideo Kojima is a modern day genius. There's been very little that I've been disappointed with.
