I was just reading a thread on favorite horror game. Many responses were "games do not scare me." I have been playing games now for 20 years and I feel this year is the year that true gaming takes off (if it wasn't for the economic stress). You just have to ask yourself are you getting the full 360 degree experience? Is your television/monitor big enough that it take up your peripheral view? Do sounds approach you with depth from all angles? Are you playing without distractions in the background and with the lights out? To make sure your on the same page...Why does seeing a movie in the theatre capture us more than home (minus noisy strangers)..it is nothing more than the controlled setting.

Recently, prices have dropped greatly with bigger screens and surround sound set-ups. So now is the time to set-up a true gaming sanctuary to enjoy our games to the fullest extent.

Right now, I have a so-so set-up, however a newly purchased 5.1 surround sound headset is what brought on my evaluation of how my equipment is effecting my gaming. With the headset I can crank it up and not worry of waking anyone while gaming into the late hours. I also recently hooked up my PC to a 42' LCD rear project tv (720p).

Just want to help my fellow gamers out there that have forgotten or underestimated how their environment/equipment can effect your gaming.

I am now saving for the following set-up. Keep in mind this is an expensive route that I am going but it is a long term one also. I need a 60' monitor/t.v. to cover my field of view and my graphics card could us an update. So while doing this I am taking steps to possibly a better experience (true 3d).

$1,200 60' Mitsubishi 1080p DLP-3D rdy

$190 XFX-Nvidia-GeForce 9800 GTX

$200 Nvidia 3D Vision (stereoscopic 3d glasses)

What are your thoughts..what piece of equipment makes/breaks your set-up? How do you feel about games going stereoscopic 3d?

Happy Gaming:)
