I currently got a dual boot running XP64 and Vista64. my current prob though is gettin Leopard as my third boot option (just started this on Wednesday) but I can't find a boot loader to fully accomplish that. as long as Leopard is part of the boot loaders list, I simply get nothing :( So i'm back to the good 'ole dual boot. If I can't get leopard to boot I'm going to replace it with Suse.

EDIT: Thinking about it, IF Leopard does work then I'm gonna go with a quad-boot along with Suse.

Now when you are talking about the cabels there where one is slim the other fat. I have 2 hdds in my pc and I believe they are hook up by a slim wire and that slime wire is is grey and there is another hdd hook up with a black thin wire.

Now by this it should be a sata hdd rigtht?\

Do the corlors matter or do they not?

One hdd is from my old pc the other from the new wich was already in here. They both run just fine.

If the corlor don't matter then I'm glat cause I have seen a thin strip inside of another pc that I'm working on and so I'm assuming that it should be a sata hdd wires and so there is already a 37. whay ever hdd in there and so I'm thinking down the road when this friend of my Mom's has enough money I would look around for her for another hdd.

All I know is that SP3 put my PC in a reboot-loop. I then reformated and with a fresh install of XP w/SP2 I re-applied SP3 and same thing. It didn't seem to have a noticable impact on my media PC though. If you read the KB there are a plethora of updates that are exclusive to SP3, although you can maually d/l them they are not stand alone on Windows updates.

you probably got a crapy 8800gt for cheap price thats why

but i'm not sugesting u egt the 9800gtx or the 8800gts get the gx2 just hundreds more and thats it

liltirtis

No, I started getting overheating probs since my rommie tried removing my stock cooler and install a heatsink, but it didnt fit. I got thermal crud and redid it and it's running fine now.

So this brings me to the original question... What's the cons to the 8800GTX? Is it even worth it to go to that and rely on it for about a year or so?

Ok I have just moved on from a Pentuim D. NO GOOD! I had a 2.8 D, 3GB OCZ DDR2-800 RAM, and a 8800GT. I had to run Crysis at low with some settings on Med. The money your saving now is going to be spent on an upgrade within a couple years if not 1!

Happauge is a good start but vid capture devices are usually more expensive. Just goto your neighborhood electronics store or a Canadian-friendly site and look for Composite-to-VGA adapeters, switches, or something of the sort.

that MOBO looks nice, and from the feedback on it lots of ppl tried the E8400 without problems in it. and like you said the OCing looks easy. k thx for the help :)

oh but one more question, what about my dell dimension 9150 case, will the mobo fit in it? And even if it does, won't the case be too crowded with the new GPU, CPU and PSU?

First off, make sure the skrews holding your mobo in your case are something you can remove! Some have those kinds where you have to drill out. Either way get your new mobo and check it out. otherwise go back and buy a new case! It's not like your losing anything, well putting patience aside!!!

If your Mobo does have a SATA port then you won't need to worry about conflicts. However if you're going through IDE for both drives then you have to make sure your jumpers (usually in-between the IDE connector slot and power slot on the HDD) are set correctly. IMO: Keep the 60GB as your windows boot drive and that jumper setting should be set to MASTER, as for your soon to be new drive the jumper setting should be set to SLAVE. After you set the correct jumper settings just plug the new guy on the same IDE cable then just start windows! No extra action is needed! If you have any problems we'll all be right here!
