This is a question that can go many directions. With some intense playing of this I found many problems that were not resolved, that comes much later in the game.

Those coming from beta probably can reach end game in a week, intense players probably not far behind. Some enjoyed the slow pace, and took there time, but that can only last so long.

No class left a bitter taste to me, just a easier method to nerf a class, that can be fallen back on that there is all the other abilities you can use, and your character is not completely destroyed, as in the past.

World domination kept me out of the game by itself, just way over powered. This is the same concept taken with AOC, and a buff given to a specific group, so they can overwhelm all others in pvp. If groups need advantages to pvp against others than why not just give a number of people hacks? This I see becoming dominated by one faction at some point. When, has been the question from the start, and what faction to join when this takes place. This also effects all, qve, raids, pvp.

End result of abilities left a unbalance, only certain combinations to use, where most fell in categories of never be used. Many factors involved to reach this result, from to much other spell builders, to time recharges, making them not usable, versus surviving.

Later game content also eliminates established builds with such things as non removable buffs against a high percentage of play.

Deeper game loot, terrible drop rates, but when final results are accomplished, can add heavy perks.

Initial main mission is entertaining as well as many of the other quests, this will keep many going for the first life of the game.

Not really some I can think of. Many that you can glitch through walls etc and fly and stuff though, lol.

Trend I have seen has actually been going against this more and more. Once you build a character they start taking everything away in nerfs and less freedoms of choice in skills etc.

Single player type games no.

Things like mmo's probably yes.

Mainly if it takes achievements to get the better pvp gear to stand ground with everyone else that has it, I think many fall into that category. There are many that like to show they are top level, or better yet top level first. Achievements to show pvp level and ranks falls in this category as well, and I know people strive for showing off their numbers in games like mmo's. Even achievements for some rare item, I may do now and then. All this really comes down to isshowing off. If you can't show those numbers to everyone else running around the game, or show off the rare item at a dwelling or in a market or something, there is no point to them. Competition is probably one of the biggest drives in games like this. If one guild for example can steal your guild home-Keep-Fort etc. this can be a forced thing to every one's skillsto hold their home that are involved.

Single player has nobody to show this to and doesn't fall under the category of showing others. Even in ranking systems, of who has done what daily, weekly, they are in the areas with other players, online, and competition.

So I think this really has to do on type of game where this is more a factor or not. I wouldn't think in any manner people buy games for this reason, or the trophy/achievements in the game. They get these to have fun, release from rl, interaction with others, and something that is in their area of interest.

I have heard thousands I am sure, and sure don't remember them all. When pvp got started up, use to hear some comments that would blow your mind. "Oh my, someones pixels got killed in a game". Where do you live? I am going to come to your home and kill you, lol.

Live chat has added its moments as well. Maybe not so much under stupid, but funny. Amazing how a single word may cause confusion, or at least a break, for discussion.

Decal = Sticker. or a name for a outside program. A conversation can become quite interesting when you start hearing gecko. What are you talking about, a lizard? Wait gecko with a d on front of it, ah? Seen a few interesting things with different pronunciation, from other countries.

Games have affected probably most here that read these boards. Many can be very addictive to the point of skipping things you have planned or would normaly do. Even to the point I know people that have called in sick for a new release or update.

They can be a escape goat from RL stresses and problems.

What a game can do is give entertainment, and fun in some challenging to non-challenging environments.

Depending on games you play, I have made RL friends from many Countries, let alone many places in the US, and have even met many.

Ultimately, what it did to my life, while not really searching for, afamily, and two kids.

Keeping RL in perspective, games can be fun, even friendships created, but don't let them take over your entire life.

I do believe i jsut posted WAY more then 15 games poison and most are what we classify as "this generation".. I could drop back to say 2000 or so and the list would be fairly huge. Did you know the first Serious sam had 4 player splitscreen? Crazy I know. I think even dirt 3 will have splitscreen on the Pc.

jedikevin2

It all depends on your search and needs. Splitscreen by itself is about 15 games. As I stated, if you narrow your parameters, such as lan and also couch co-op, you have like 7 games. Thus, maybe a good idea to search individually under co-optimus under such parameters they require.

The question here is not enough information, if this person wants to play on two pcs, or with consoles, other controllers etc. Being the pc thread I am assuming pc. Co-op, or against each other? If searching under just couch-co-op there are over 50 games available, but under what conditions of play and controllers may come in play here.

To me its pretty outrageous, all consoles having a half dozen ways to play together. To play with your family on a couple or several pc's with something you like, almost impossible. OR add online and extra games, and perhaps questionable malware.

So alot of searching looking for something couch co-op with a lan and afamily member on pc, I have found one release in 2011, and two I have no interest in in 2010. This is my parameters, one game, two of us can enjoy together on our separate pc's.

The person here may have complete different parameters, so in just looking in couch co-op there are 50 or more to choose from if that fits their scenario.

There isn't really alot for pc. Like 15 total for split screen, and half that for lan and couch co-op going back to 2001. Maybe check out co-optimus site on what games have different co-op game play with different platforms/ methods you can run.

The Hunted is soon to come out in a month, looks like it may for 2.

Seems to me this has got off topic, since the question is if development should listen to the whiny customer.

My length of experience dictates listening to the biggest squeaky wheel has always been a big mistake.Based on mmo experience where this has the most diversity, Ipersonally classify these people witha single focus. Special people, alpha testers, pvp/or just pve, groups are just about as devastating if the entire gamer base is not listen to.

Friends of development, generally a bad source, lack of gaming knowledge, generally interested in trivial things, over the more major and deeper in game play.

The famous nerf this guy he hit me in pvp and is to tough, that has effected and drove off more players in mmo's than anything else, not good. Generally resulting in nerfs, pvp only focus, and disruption of all other game play with removal of designed effects in cooperative game play, single game play etc.

Examples like this that drive 9 of 11 servers from the game, need to be ignored, while the major majority that many times is not whining or even making any comments get left with what a couple whiners wanted in a single players view.

If the majority that is not being heard from many times was viewed in a whole, I think development would have alot easier time with their tinkering with things. When a few whiners get their way, I like others generally end up leaving after enough nerfs, limitations, removals, because some whiner thinks something is op or something, but not smart enough to play that character if its that great. I have seen this time and again with these resultsby listening to the biggest squeaky wheel, or whiny customer.

[QUOTE="poisonelf1"]

I think how I have liked it best put- When its a choice of looking at a males butte or females for hours on end, hmm.

MonkeyPulp

I really don't care what you play as but I'v never understood why people say this. You should be playing the game instead of staring at your characters ass.

This is the easy way to say the history of gaming wrapped up in a nutshell.

Its a game, play what you want does it really matter, maybe you want to play a female character because the skill set they have.

History I have seen.

Males playing a female character, and forming intimate relations with other males. This being one thing many fear I believe.

Males to macho to think they could ever play a female.

Visa versa females jealous/weirded out of males playing a female etc.

Basically what it all boils down to, is males can't get over the fact they are trying to pick up on some female, and don't know if its a male. Many females I have known for years generally play a male character because of this fact and to be left alone. The thing is, you have no clue who is behind the controls in many of these cases, this is a problem when tying to pick up on someone. So the sooner one realizes this and its just a game, not a pick up bar, what gender you play really matters very little.

Live chat now has been a bigger thing in many mmo's, and quite often required in many parts of game play. Thereare those wanting to know who is who, and those that would rather not.

So a simple comment covers some of these issues people can't deal with. Would you rather look at a females butte or a males all game. What can the pick up males say to that? What do People know now that think all female characters are really female?

Think it was something like netrek, but that really doesn't count I don't think.

So will Call it Merdian59 after that. Be almost interesting to see some of that today, with how much everyone is so spoiled. Start seeing some of these shooters online, that everything you owned dropped when you died for who ever killed ya to pick up, might actually give some interest to some.

Did give a reason to survive, rather than racing out dying over and over. Little challenge to it when you are naked because you died with no weapon.
