So no major game can exist anymore that doesn't cater to online play? I really hate that. I get that I'm a gaming dinosaur by now (in my mid 40s), but I've always hated the drive toward online play. I've enjoyed it here and there, but all I really want in a game is a creative world to play in. I like good graphics, gameplay, and good use of music and visual detail to create that world. What I DON'T require is token reasons to keep playing the same game for months. Give me a good campaign and give me an actual goal/ending. If I can get through a game in a weekend, I'm perfectly happy with that. UNCHARTED was great.. I'm sorry that we won't be getting many more like it because people would rather spend all day shooting the same people and collecting loot/perks and whatever contrived micro transactions the devs come up with to make you feel like you're actually accomplishing something. What decade does this guy live in? These people might be much more effective if they could name a game/movie that's actually been released in the last five years... I'm sure he only named Bulletstorm because it sounded like a gun-ridden game...
The question is will Wii U bring back game developers making current gen games? I remember the sting of being first in line to pick up the Wii, only to watch as title after title went to PS3 and Xbox without touching the Wii - I didn't realize at the time that the Wii was just a Gamecube with motion controls.
So is Wii U going to compete with next gen consoles, or is Nintendo permanently turning itself into a kid/family console?
Of course, as long as they keep churning out Mario, Zelda, and Metroid titles, I won't have a choice!
Honestly, kids today need to look beyond the games they currently play and see what preceded them and how the genre got to where it is today. TOMB RAIDER was a landmark game for 3D gaming - I'm annoyed that kids today don't respect that!
Actually, UNCHARTED is "like" Tomb Raider: Legend, which preceded it by 1 year ... and TR:L is like Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, which preceded it by 3 years, so...
