The typical patronizing content. As expected! No disappointment here. What lol... you so did attack the authors of those comments. How about I kick you in the groin? Hey! I'd excuse myself as just emulating a kicking movement in the direction of your groin, the resulting damage being entirely unintentional.

Ah, hell... I'll stop there. A whole paragraph worth of sarcasm stands erased. Hypocrisy, as well as greed and ignorance, is so prevalent and influential in all aspects of our collective society, it's maturing me from hopeful and ideological to bitter and cynical all too early in my years.

While I agree with some points made in the vid, I disagree with the argument being made and for which those points are used. And while I loathe GSpot's efforts and intentions with it, I am grateful for the commentary it has spawned, here below. I was already more than a little skeptical of GSpot, but I've now read a significant portion of sensible and plausible information that's helped me evolve my perspective. It's also heartening to know the overall response of the community (or of those who bothered to comment, at least).

There are other sources of reviews and outlooks for gaming nowadays. The information and video markets are evolving in a direction where people more and more are used to and prefer on-demand content. A mere channel in youtube can compete with GSpot in this manner. In terms of reviews and other types of content. As one of the comments I read mentions, there's TotalBiscuit and AngryJoe, among many. Hell, you can find good hands-on outlooks by let's players. I'm subscribed to OverTheGun and have found out about a few good games through the channel, both recent indies and good oldies, as well as a mod or two. Many let's players do this. The same rule applies as with GSpot however: beware the most popular. I wouldn't so quickly trust the opinions of those. But TBisc, for instance, is pretty known and all about sussing out games, the rest is just gravy. Personally, I trust his calls, in general. They tend to make sense, it's not blind(ed) belief. But you've heard of the expression "get a second opinion". Probably in relation to medicine, which is a science and much more objective than gaming. So definitely do get a 2nd opinion, a 3rd, a 4th, until you're satisfied. There's certainly more reviews than willingness to read them, if you include user reviews. I occasionally watch GSpot reviews or read the summary of the written ones, mostly just those by VanOrd. But if I'm buying a game, I definitely look it up elsewhere, in reviews and otherwise.

The only other reason I frequent this site, not including the occasional commenting such as this (I don't follow any of these series), is for its game database. Since its last wonderful design update that rendered it unavailable to me more often than not, however, I started using GiantBomb for that. They even look too alike to be coincidental, did the merge or sumpin'? Anyhow, I don't feel too guilty in frequenting ol' GSpot, what with Adblock on my Firefox.

TL;DR:... sigh. F*ck knows.

@Vojtass So he can "subtly" ridicule more of them, before attempting to debunk them with regurgitated lingo backed by a bibliography?

@Busta @SmallSatsuma Alas, like it's been said in movies, you can't buy anything with honour.

Whereas money buys everything, including perceived honour. Or lack thereof.

I completely agree with you. While I know that kickstarter projects account for the possibility of pledges beyond the initial goal, in each and every project I've seen, the extra content hasn't overly impressed me. They are all content that a simple DLC could offer, nothing that would fundamentally raise the level of the original idea, only add to it. And this seems true even for Project Eternity's kickstarter, with a total pledge of 4 times the initial goal; although, admittedly, they might just present the best extras I've seen yet. Nearly all good stuff I would see included. And it's good to see the milestones set apart in only small increments of funding, increasingly so up to $3 mill. Of course, the last 2 goals seem the most captivating, but half a million dollars each? For a metropolis or an overall enhancement? Sounds too vague; could be great, could be far from it. Either way, not sure they're worth that much money.

Point being, with four times the initial funding, which is what they required to make a proper old school RPG, you would've thought the project gained more than merely additions to the base plan. Seems to me like they'll do more with the initial $1.1 million alone than with the extra $2.9 million. With the initial goal, they would make a game, a presumably pretty good game. With the rest of the money, they'll add content that, in total, sounds less than a whole game would offer. And that's fundamentally what concerns me, that overfunding might be squandered. Like I said, this is still the best kickstarter I've seen. The other day I saw one for a typical looking indie game and all the extra funding it got seemed to add NOTHING to the game itself. I suppose it's the better example of what you've been meaning to say, rarson. They had the game plan drawn. They had to make shit up to earn the extra money. Except, in my eyes, it's not earned.

Kickstarter and alike seem to be great tools for the gaming industry, but we must keep in mind that money corrupts everything. And the more there is of it, the easier and quicker the corruption takes hold. One's generosity plays to another's greed.

Funny, it's not part of "The Bad" nor is it even mentioned, the $30 price tag. I find it to be the worst con of the game. It's far too steep for what's offered, even if they were to fix the most glaring oversights and bugs.
